Chiefs Salary Cap 2024 - Moves to be made
Clearly, MVS should and will be cut June 1st which frees up about $11M. There are ways to restructure Mahomes, Thuney and Kelce potentially. The question here is, can the Chiefs find enough room to sign Sneed, Jones, Tranquill and Gay and still sign a top tier WR? I believe the 24 cap is going to increase a well.
Cap gurus, what other move can be made here? https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/kansas-c...iefs/cap/2024/ Last edited by NIUhuskies; 01-11-2024 at 10:57 AM.. |

I think Cam Jones' play might mean the end for Gay; unless he doesn't get/want a big contract. Also Cochran is a solid backup. Personally, I think we might see Tranquil and Gay walk and spend the money elsewhere.
Not my desire, but I could definitely see it happening. Jones will be gone, MVS will be gone.. we should have a pretty decent little chunk of change to get a difference maker at WR. That's my hope.

The thing with "spend the money elsewhere" is that you end up spending it on holes, but by not signing player x or y, that other hole pops open.
They don't need to go into it thinking "fill holes we had this year". That's already past. Next years team will be completely different. I'm kinda hopeful they can keep the secondary together and do some young guys on the DL. Thompson showed a little in that Charger game, then you've got FAU so there's some building blocks there. I think they could still add another DE/DT in FA but that's gonna depend on the JOnes situation. The easy one on offense is correcting the Hopkins mistake. Just flip the Titans, who are in a full on rebuild, like a 6th rounder. Draft another WR early, you've got your core then. |

He just hasn't played as well. I didn't need PFF to tell me that. It's there to see if you're willing to look.

If Hopkins isn't an option they wanna pursue, I kinda wonder if Chris Godwin could be had. I kinda have a sneaking suspicion that DK is traded out of Seattle too.

Mike Evans and an early WR in the draft sound pretty good to me

We'll need to pay a good safety, if it'sReid thats fine. . Then you pick from Gay and Sneed. Under no circumstances do you sign Jones. He would have to be some crazy dirt cheap deal. He will be declining and somebody will overpay drastically. We need as much money to pay WR and maybe even a backup TE as possible.

I wouldn't be surprised if Veach tried to keep Chris, Sneed and go after a 2nd wave WR.
He basically did that after 2019 was over. Granted Mahomes was still cheap. Doing that would definitely require someone with a big cap hit restructuring. Maybe Mahomes.

We're not paying Jones. We MIGHT pay Sneed. You can pay THREE really good players for what Jones wants. You just can't do that when you're paying an elite QB. |
