If it was me, I think I would like to resign for the Super Bowl Champions as well.

After actually reading the article it's just guesswork by league executives. Meh.

The idea that Pat would (or should) take anything less than he can earn on his first mega-deal is absurd and not even remotely based in reality. That's just unprecedented for a guy in his position. Now, after he's earned 100s of millions, and played at an MVP level for 5-6-7 years total, I'm 100% sure he'd take less in his 2nd mega-deal to help the cap situation.

Do you think mahomes is the type of player who would immediately jump to the Cardinals or to the Jets or the Bengals? I would bet he has a short list of teams he'd consider. In kc he has a hall of fame coach, a city he's comfortable with, teammates he's very close with, and loyal fans. He doesn't strike me as a guy who's going to jump at a bigger offer if he doesn't feel comfortable with those things. There's a reason Brady never left belichick. And why Peyton refused to even negotiate with all but a select few teams. Or why elis dad boycotted San Diego. I'd bet pat picks a few select teams and kc has to be competitive with those bids. Which will still be a lot. But it may not necessarily be his market value.

Leaving behind a hall of fame HC, a great offense system, loyal front office, and market he's comfortable with? It's always easier for the current team to resign their franchise qb. There's a reason why almost every franchise qb resigns a second contract with their current team. Who's the last franchise qb who didn't?

If he leaves, it would be for a team with a great defense. He has never had a great defense backing him. Lost two playoff games in high school where he put 60 points on the board each time. Same kind of crap in college and now this year the Chiefs defense was pretty much a disaster until the last two games. We will see if they play worth a shit today against Brady.

Yeah, no. Regardless of how it all plays out (he is signing a record contract in Kansas City), we have control for 8 years.

There is no way in hell Mahomes is even thinking about leaving this franchise as long as Andy is his coach.

I'll leave it at this....
Would Mahomes play for Daniel Snyder? Would he sign a long-term deal to play for Adam Gase in New York? All because they offered $5 or $10M more to an already blockbuster deal? It's easily KC's race to lose. They have to really **** this up for it not to happen.

I was about to post pretty much the same thing. You take all the money you can get on that first deal and run.

So you would jump to a place like the giants where the fans will throw beers at him if he isn't an mvp. Or a place like Miami that has no stability at the coaching position? Or does fit play a really big part in all this. Sure if a team with a good fit gives him some doorbuster deal kc can't match he will take it. But money was not the absolute #1 priority for Peyton or Brady, and I don't see mahomes being that way either.
