Chiefs D ranked #1 in....

Sacks. 52 on the season. Was shocked to see that considering we don't really blitz much.

To me, our run problems begin with our lack of gap responsibility on the d-line and the absolute inability of the ILBs to read, shed blocks, and attack. I'm not sure I've ever seen more inconsistent ILB play in my life.

The key is the coin toss. If we win that, step two is for the offense to start fast and put the enemy behind early. One mistake on the ensuing enemy drive and we have a better than 70% chance of taking a 2-score lead in the 1st quarter. That's our game.

FAX
Our defensive line gap problems start with Chris Jones wanting to get sacks more than he wants to stop the run. When they pull Jones and put Williams and Nnadi out there our run defense is much better.

I think we should go with a 5-2-4 formation so we can rush the pass and stop the run.

Houston - Williams - Jones - Nnadi - Ford

Houston and Ford coming off the edge, Jones coming up the middle, Williams/Nnadi stopping the run.

Chris Jones has been a major disruption to the passing game but when you watch run plays from the OAK game there are a number of times that the offense just lets him run up field and the running back goes right through his gap.

Yea, Chris Jones is a great athlete who is a real talent but he's undisciplined against the run right now. We need to either move Jones to DE in a 4-3 or put Williams and Nnadi on either side of him to eliminate the gap issues.

Mahomes is our best pass rusher.

He puts pressure on the opposing QB on every snap.

This defense is ranked #3 in the league in opponent passer rating at home. Behind Baltimore and Chicago. Just in front of New England and Jacksonville. Tell me that's not impressive.

The run defense is just poor though, no matter how you look at it.

Give me good pass defense before good run defense all day though.

Then I would like to say that they should make sure PM gets SuperBowl MVP.

Yeah we give up 18 PPG at home. The disparity between Raiders games was interesting. Carr went 10 straight games without an INT and then throws 2 in Arrowhead.

It really does seem like the defense is gaining a ton of confidence from the offense and the crowd unlike previous years where the offense would stall all the time and be completely reliant on the defense.

QB, pass rush and HFA are always the 3 biggest factors to postseason success and we are the only team in the league to be the BEST at all 3.

God this just feels like as best of any time to get to the Super Bowl as any in my life. I just want to win at Arrowhead in the divisional and get that gigantic boulder of our backs. Do that and I’ll be as big of a homer as anyone on this damn board.

Well, one of those picks came off a shockingly stupid play by Cooks and Carr where everybody on both sides of the ball were confused as hell. Good on Dan, though - for the awareness and the hands.

The other one was affected by the rush, for sure. Carr doesn't like that pressure stuff at all. You know you've affected the QB when Ragland gets a pick.

It's also worth noting that Carr's success avoiding picks is due in large measure to throwing the short stuff - Eli style.

A little late now. We should have traded for Clinton-Dix or pushed Lucas into the lineup during the season. Parker was an emergency move that shouldn't have lasted all year.
