He could be Jamaal (I think he can be better) or he could have an early injury and turn out to be Clyde. We can afford a Clyde situation on this offense, but for the Gibbs pick to be a “hit” in a draft like this…he would need to play to potential because we would likely be passing on a high upside pass rusher for him to be the pick. Not much margin for error. |

Listening to Middlekauff who usually has some scouts and such on his pod, this draft just isn't viewed very highly in the scouting community. Not that there aren't going to be good players, but with the COvid stuff, it's just gotta a bit out of whack. I'm kind of going against everything in my being, but atleast with the Gibbs at 31 pick you can say he may end up being one of the truly elite players from this draft. If that's the case and you could get him at 31......I still hate it but whatever. |

The Raiders signed Marcus Epps this offseason and have drafted Brian Branch, but honestly I think Epps kinda sucks and the Raiders defensive backfield is such a mess that any sort of versatility is valued so:
The Raiders Select: Anthony Johnson Jr, DB - Iowa State I think you're looking at a guy who can provide some coverage reps over Epps if necessary but as a 3-year starter on the boundary who made a conversion (successfully) to safety at ISU, he presents a lot of versatility. Even the position he played at ISU is more of a hybrid S role not unlike how the Chiefs used Mathieu a couple years back. Ultimately he's just a good football player and if you can find one of those in the 6th, you take him and figure out the depth chart later.

There are 2 or 3 left as draftable options out there, IMO. As well as a potential conversion candidate.

I'm higher on some other positions right now so it won't be safety here. Well... maybe... still a few picks to be made over the next week before I get to pick so I guess you never know. |

I didn't think this guy was available when I was thinking out loud about this pick so here goes...
With the 217th pick, the Kansas City Chiefs select Jason Taylor II, S, Oklahoma State The Chiefs get an aggressive, athletic ball hawk for their back end. |

The Chicago Bears select Jake Witt, OT, Northern Michigan
This is the player I almost reached for at #150. That would have been too early… but I wanted him to be a Bear. Fortunately, he made it back to me! Witt is going to be boom or bust. A converted TE and Incredibly inexperienced at tackle, but with great size and athleticism, Witt has two outcomes in my head: All pro LT after being a backup for 2-3 years and learning under NFL coaching or out of the league within 18 months. For a 7th rounder, worth the gamble to get a shot at a stud LT. |

I preferred Johnson as I think he's a little more versatile but Taylor has the tools for the same job really.

The Raiders will continue to attack skill sets and roles as we move along in the 7th.
Vegas Selects: Davis Allen, TE - Clemson Very little flashy about him but I'd be floored if he doesn't have a 4-6 year career. Really nice hands, very good size. Very nice TE2 option for a team that traded away their starter and seems content with OJ Howard and Austin Hooper. In the end, Allen could have a very similar career to Hooper. There are a couple flashier options on the board but I just feel like this is a no-doubt NFL player.
