Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

I've got the same one per BigCatDaddy's rec and love it. My shoulders don't ache and I can over-load heavier weights after my normal sets.

Similar to a bench shirt. Just supports your shoulders and pulls in the elbows on the way up allowing you to lift heavier.

So, I spent some time with a friend last night who I hadn't seen in about a month. He also works out, and he notices all of my gains. He told me last night that my calves and quads had gotten bigger since the last time he saw me. This makes me happy and sad at the same time. I want the muscle, and I want to be able to lift all teh weight, but I'd also like to be able to buy jeans for this winter.

Heh. Pec Deck before Bench leads to some hilarity on the bench. First few reps were completely easy and then, all of a sudden, I'm done, lol.

New dead lift PR.

225/4

Previous was 225/3. I think I might have had one more in me. I did pec flies yesterday, which I don't normally do, and I could feel it on that fourth lift tonight. I decided that I didn't want to push it, so five is my new goal. Once I'm able to do 225/5 for three weeks in a row, I will go for a new personal one lift record.

You deadlift more than 98% of the guys at my gym! Pretty strong. Do you pull conventional or sumo? Sorry if I have asked before.

Traditional, I believe. Sumo is with your legs further apart, right? I have my feet about a shoe width apart, toes pointed out, stick my butt out when I squat down for the bar, and pull. I do not wear gloves or straps. I do the over/under grip. Usually with my left hand under, as that just feels more natural for me.

Yea Sumo is with feet near plates. Not usually how most people pull. You're fairly tall so you should be able to generate some good leverage in the conventional stance.

And no gloves or straps! You don't know how proud I am! Does your gym allow you to use chalk then?

I want to make a shirt that I can wear to the gym for all the glove wearers.
Front would say---Nice lifting gloves
Back would say---Can I hold your purse?

No chalk allowed at the gym. Yeah, I have some nice calluses on my palms at the base of my fingers...lol. I once asked my trainer about gloves whenever I first started with some "heavier" weights. He said, "Sure, you can wear them......if you're a sissy." I replied, "You callin' me a sissy?" I've never worn gloves.

I'm 5'7". Pretty average. I'm not sure what the average height for a woman is anymore.
