Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs
Well, it looks like the deal is done.
https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed Jay Glazer @JayGlazer 49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith Jay Glazer @JayGlazer Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith. |

My expectations for Alex Smith are a playoff win. You can disagree and believe he cant do that but dont tell me what my expectations are or that I am fine with mediocrity because I dont hate Alex Smith. This is the type of attitude I ****ing despise. Disagree on his ability of you want but dont make bullshit qualifiers on what I am happy with as a fan. ****ing arrogant pricks. |

You draft a rookie... maybe he develops into something.. maybe not.. Most rookies could develop beyond the ceiling of an Alex Smith.. but how to predict which ones? and do we even know for sure Alex has reached his ceiling? So, say that Alex and KC have a decent 2013 year (8-9 wins) as the team builds confidence and respectability. KC then adds even another upgrade or two to go along with the current players having a year and another full offseason to absorb the schemes. 2014.. deep playoff run.. and who knows? Alex is already a good QB... and the Chiefs players, coaches, and most fans want to win games now. You can't be sure of a rookie developing into even a good QB.. certainly less likely with a new scheme implemented and a lack of proven offensive players. Alex also has at least 5 years left in the league. If the Chiefs coaching and personnel is worth a shit? Alex can get you there. May not happen in a year 1 scheme on both sides of the ball, like 2013.. but Alex has a much better chance of getting the Chiefs a SB in the next 2-3 years than some unidentified, mystical rookie QB to develop. |

Your team sucked balls last season... this, you know. So going 2-14 to 8-8 is crap for you? You wouldn't at least have some measure of respectability? That things are improving and the next season looks less bleak? That's ****ing weak ass BS. Your team mostly sucked from shit coaching, and a shit QB that kept turning the ball over. Now, you have a good coach and an efficient QB that doesn't turn the ball over. Quit being such a lil pussy fan. |

You are completely insane. Wtf Smiff has made at best 5 good throws as a Chief and now he's earned the pinnacle? My god how far has this franchise fallen?

The only thing that's fallen is the dignity of a small portion of the KC fanbase... yes, like yourself. You have just crawled into a shell of miserable, crybaby defeat. With such fans like this, who the **** even needs division rival fans to talk shit to you?

Hey man, just a question. No BS. Ok, so you aren't happy with Alex Smith's odds of getting the chiefs to the SB. Got it. I sort of agree, particularly with the supporting cast he as around here. So, here's the questions. Be honest. You are the GM. You've just been hired to turn around a 2-14 ship. Most of the studs on the team are in the prime of their carreers right now, so there really is a 2-3 year window with the talent on the roster now. There is also a lack of depth, particularly at WR, LB, OL, and DB. You have Matt Cassel as your QB. What would you have done to this point?

You're a fan of the second- or third-best baseball franchise of all time and the second- or third-best football franchise of all time (especially the past 30 years), you're telling Chiefs/Royals fans you "know exactly what you're going through?" Seriously, shut up and go away. Unless you're 60 years old (and suffered through the 60s and 70s) you've never seen the Giants be bad for a long period of time (and if you are 60, you've still seen them be consistently good since the mid-80s). The 49ers have been one of the best franchises in football since Walsh stepped foot on the sideline. They wandered in the wilderness for half a decade or so recently, but still have won 8 playoff games, a Super Bowl, made another Super Bowl appearance, and made at least 5 appearances in the NFC championship game SINCE THE LAST TIME THE CHIEFS WON A PLAYOFF GAME.

I don't think even the biggest Geno Smith fans would have argued that he was more prepared to win in 2013 NFL than Alex Smith. So maybe the Chiefs win 20 games in 2013 and 2014 with Alex Smith and the aging core of this team. Maybe they even win 22. Unless that comes with playoff wins and success, it matters no more than going 13-3 in 2003 or 1997 or 1995. Regular season wins are hollow unless they lead to something more.
