Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs
Well, it looks like the deal is done.
https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed Jay Glazer @JayGlazer 49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith Jay Glazer @JayGlazer Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith. |

You forgot to mention Manningham who was healthy when Alex was starting.

If Alex Smith had just had 2011, and last year regressed, I'd be right there with the people saying, not another Cassel it Bono. But he was playing even better in 2012, and he wasn't just along for the ride. I think he's turned a corner on his career. He could regress, but I don't see it on this team.

With Manuel out for the season and Geno sucking the big chocolaty penii, I think I can pretty much say I nailed this one.

Manuel is only out for preseason. I liked Manuel a lot and wouldn't have minded him in round 2.

I like Alex a lot better than any QB we had since Trent. He's made some nice throws and some ugh throws. But he'll get there where we can win some games. It's going to take time for the offense to gel and trust each other.

Also, when you said, "chance to win next year...," did you mean just win more games than 2 or to possibly compete for a championship? Because if you are saying more than 2 then I agree, but competing for a championship is definitely not in the equation unless 15 starting Qb's in the league all get season ending injuries. Because Alex Smith will not get us to a Superbowl, something Geno possibly could do in a few seasons with development. Hell, P. Manning took 8 years before he got to the Superbowl, so don't be so hard on Geno who has yet to play a League game that ****ing matters. Last edited by GordonGekko; 08-25-2013 at 11:19 PM.. |

You play to win the game. Hello? The Chiefs front office has put together the best possible team for 2013, and that is all you can ask for as fans. You can't predict what QB will be the next Manning, Luck, etc - and then tank the season for them. That mentality is for losers. I've watched every snap of the Chiefs pre-season games, and you guys have a lot to be hopeful about. Smith is not going to light up the scoreboard with top 5 QB stats, but he'll be efficient, smart, make plays when he needs to, and not turn the ball over. 9-12 wins is entirely possible. And as we saw last year, even a mediocre QB can get hot and carry his team to a Super Bowl win. Shit, even Eli Manning has done that - TWICE. There is absolutely no reason that a QB like Smith couldn't string together some nice performances in the playoffs and bring a Super Bowl trophy to Kansas City. He did it against the Saints, and save two Kyle Williams fumbles and a BS non-fumble call on Bradshaw, and he'd have been in the Super Bowl too. Rally around your QB, have some faith, and just be a FAN. If he sucks, then the organization will go a different direction. Or maybe "I told you so" is more important... |

Yup, I take it you are ok with another 3 years of **GUARANTEED** mediocrity, with no Superbowl game appearances. Enjoy your 8-8. I'm going to wait for Chunt to sack up and do football like the other 10 or so franchises that are contenders year in, year out for the Lombardi.

I don't even know why you are defending yourself here, every post you are making is basically you saying, "yes, I am satisfied with 8 win seasons..." You love your mediocrity, just accept it. |
