Chiefs trying to trade Justin Houston
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Chiefs talking to teams about trading OLB Justin Houston.
We doubt they're successful. Houston turned 30 last month and carries an exorbitant $21.1 million cap hit. If the Chiefs don't find a trade partner, they're fully expected to release Houston, especially with Dee Ford likely coming back on either a big-money deal or the franchise tag. Houston's play has slipped in recent years, but he can be an effective sub-package rusher off the edge https://www.rotoworld.com/football/n...as-city-chiefs https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/n...carr-and-more/ https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2019/...justin-houston |

I’m sure if Veach and Andy have it their way he goes to the NFC with LA, SF, or whoever.
But Indy has the most cap room to take on his contract. They’d need to blow KC away to send him there though probably. |

They way I understand it the Chiefs can save about 25-26 mil in cap space if EB is healthy enough to pass his physical and they cut both. That kind of cash could fix this defense before the draft starts.

Berry gone, and then sign Earl Thomas for a mega contract. No more deep shots or throws down the seam for Brady with Earl Thomas patrolling the deep half.

There is ZERO chance we trade him unless we attach a high pick or young player.

You knew this was coming when Houston made his "official" statement saying how he wouldn't take a pay cut here. But, who would trade for him? Wait until we release him then throw money at him.

Houston involved in trade talks
@RapSheet: Sources: The #Chiefs have had trade talks centered around star pass-rusher Justin Houston. With Houston’s cap number and the potential to franchise tag Dee Ford, Houston appears to be a rare top pass-rusher available. Teams have been calling with real interest.

It's kinda shitty it feels like these old holdovers don't like that the future of the team isn't in their hands anymore so they're being difficult.
