Marvel burn out is real

Three episodes of Hawkeye out and no one so much as talking about it in the MCU general discussion, let alone given it it’s own thread.

Personally, I’m enjoying it. Hailee Steinfield’s spunky and can’t leave well enough alone character plays perfectly off of Hawkeye’s more no nonsense personality. So far this has been more in line with what I expected from Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

I realize Hawkeye isn’t a big fan favorite; maybe it’s just Renner’s portrayal of him but, I enjoy the character and, at least to this point enjoying the series.

The streaming services are good and bad for content.

Good because they basically have given fans anything they want. Bad because not all content is good content. But the services have to keep constantly pushing new stuff out to justify the cost of a monthly subscription.

What If was awesome, IMHO. Some episodes much better than others, but all worth a watch.

Spider-Man is an A list superhero like Batman. Doesn’t matter how good the movie will turn out to be, he will always be able to ‘Open’ a movie.

People aren't burned out with Marvel - they're burned out with the political nonsense Marvel has injected in their comix and most likely their movies.

Cpt. Marvel was a nobody character revived in the 00's for politics. That's it. That's her whole purpose now. The only interesting thing about her was being stuck in Rogue's body for 15 years.

You watch her movie and she talks, acts, and has the morality of a villain. Religion tried to force its morality on people for decades and now politics have ruined not just the stories but the characters themselves. It's just as jarring as it would be if someone made a Doors movie and suddenly Jim Morrison was quoting Trump and the bible.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

And I think the Spidey purists (fans of the comics) will admit this is a very different Spidey but the production quality is so far above anything done in the past they enjoy it despite that. And I love the casting of current Spidey I just don't know that I like how they've written him (less of an independent character and more reliant on IM.) If anything I think Sony benefits from not being in the Disney MCU. Sony does not have a good reputation but they're the only Marvel show that's not in Disney's town.

The problem is Marvel has decided to tell stories with characters no one cares about and they have lost the benefit of the doubt. It use to be people would go watch anything in the MCU and it was probably good. With 4 stinkers in the last 4 years it's no longer a given to be good.

Yet their reviews, ratings, and box office sales are the envy of the entire industry.

Wait. What are the 4 stinkers? I'm assuming you're counting capt marvel. Which was just ok in my book. But then endgame came out.

Black widow i thought was really good. It just came out 5 years too late imo. Shang Chi is supposed to be really good too.

Oh and i almost for got that far from home came out in that time span as well. Also really good.

After a crescendo like endgame they have to scale it back and kind of rebuild for the next phase. I'm willing to give them some rope to try and build that.

I gave up years ago, comic book heroes are sooo played out... had it up to my eyeballs, the with any luck the Avengers are all DEAD

After seeing the new Batman, its entirely possible I will go the rest of my life without watching another comic book movie
