It's going to suck when Mahomes starts and realizes that the same shitty defense from college somehow traveled with him to the pro game in KC because Andy Reid is too loyal to fire Bob Sutton.

I'm ready to hire a new innovative young defensive mind who believes in pressure on the QB.

Sure the elite QB's will burn you every once in awhile but hitting them after every pass will accumulate & they'll feel the heat after awhile & with Mahomes at QB we can afford to give up some big plays because he will be launching bombs on the other side of it.

I believe in what Al Davis preached...

At some point we have to acknowledge that this is our last talented defense we've had in a very long time. We have 4 starters (Murray, Acker, Ragland, Zombo) who would barely make any other roster, let alone start for another team. DJ is done. Sorenson is average. Logan is a major downgrade from Howard and Poe. I just don't know what we're supposed to do schematically when half of our defense is below average or worse. I don't know. I just think blitzing vs. not blitzing is damned if you do, damned if you don't. Our LBs and Safeties are disgustingly bad right now. The middle of our defense is going to get carved up. I hope I'm wrong and this is fixable. I just don't know if there's a silver bullet for this one. I'm a little frustrated that Veach isn't attacking the waiver wire the way Dorsey used to.

Remember that 3rd and 15 that Dallas converted and turned into a TD at the end of the 2nd quarter?

I don't have a gif or screenshot of that alignment, but Sutton had 3 down linemen, and NOBODY ELSE within 10 yards of the LOS. Nobody in the middle. Nobody in a single receiver's face. All of them were allowed free releases to run the designed planned play.

Basically, Sutton took 3rd and 15 at the opponent's own ass end of the field and treated it like the opponent was at midfield with 1 second before the end of the 2nd quarter.

I know that's one play. It's just one play. And he's successfully called hundreds of brilliant coverages and concepts in key situations throughout his career that my puny football brain will never even approach within 10% of fully understanding.

But ****, man. That was the most egregious and appalling shit I've seen from a Chiefs defensive coordinator in ****ing YEARS. You actually have to go back to Greg Robinson. Yes, Greg Robinson. You can skip over Gunther Cunningham and Clancy Pendergast.

That single play was Dee Ford running away from ****ing Frank Gore. Not indicative of the job he's done and will do in the NFL. But still... it's so so so so bad that anybody with eyes would entertain the thought that Bob Sutton is a real problem with this team and he needs to be replaced.

And at least Dee Ford was a rookie. Capable of changing and growing, no matter how far he had to go. Bob Sutton is an old man who has always struggled at innovating and being one step ahead of the offense.

Its a bad defense, sub par linebackers outside of houston, sub par Dline, sub par secondary outside of Peters and he's taken a step back this year.

This Chiefs team has some major problems. Im not sure they can fix lack of talent on the defense.

It's a talent problem not a coaching problem. We don't have the personnel to be a good defense. You can come up with the greatest scheme in the world but with this group it really is not going to matter. They'll still get lit up almost every week.

Ok. It's the bye week, where you can make some changes and have some time to get ready.

I'd go make a play for Darrelle Revis. Yeah, I know..."Pass", "Brokedick", "Washed-up", etc.
Could he be worse than what we're getting on the other side from Peters? It's abysmal. Acker looked like Helen Keller today.

DJ needs to get dropped into a specialist role. KPL and Ragland will get better. They're fast enough to make the plays that need to be made.

Hali should only get better with another week off, and maybe Dee Ford can return at some point to bring some speed from the outside.

I don't know that it would fix everything, but it's something.

At least he will really feel at home still wearing red and running for his life BUT the difference for us Chief fans we will have a QB actually making and completing passes on the run.

Might want to consider trading Alex Smith right now and letting Mahomes take the helm. Get something for him right now, His value is never going to be higher lol
