Well I agree with your last point to an extent. I think "better than what we have" is better than "worse than what we had". But there you go.

Anybody watch Kaindoh play last year? Malik Herring - really? Well maybe someone his team doesn’t want back will make the difference. It worked so well with Reed…

Man they seem to be banking on prayer here.

He is gone why are we bickering over an ex wife slut?

Ingram is just going be another year older and slower.

If Ingram wanted to be here he would have been here. Vlanch was smart to use the UFA tag as if he knew Ingram wasn't likely to sign with us. We brought him in as a mercenary and mercenaries go where the money is. Bringo Star has to manage the cap and trying to resign OBJ. He has time to bring someone in if they feel the necessity. I bet they are going look at what we got in OTAs then figure on doing something or not. We need a DT or Edge but we will still be damn good because we have guys developing and maybe that's what they expect?

But look at the roster and tell me that’s not how they’ve played it to this point. Again, they took on an additional $9 million in long-term liabilities to keep Frank Clark on this roster.

That’s not something you do for someone you envision as a rotational depth piece.
I think Veach is viewing it through the lens of sunk cost versus new money and 9m/2yrs snd he sees the possible surplus value if the new Dl coach can get more out of Clark

I’m not going to anoint him the savior. But I’m not ready to dismiss him just yet either.

And yes I think another addition needs to be considered.

On multiple occasions Veach has acknowledged that he wants to add bodies to the DL. Yet - he chose to draft a slew of DBs rather than reinforce the DL (excluding George) while having plenty of ammunition to do so, he chose to let Ingram walk rather than beat the Fins offer, and he's chosen to not sign a single FA edge when there are STILL plenty out there of Ingram's quality or better. All of this leads me to the conclusion that there's a plan b and he isn't panicking. If he was you'd see a reactionary move on Ingram or someone else.

I really wouldn't hit hyperdrive on the spaceship and fly directly into panic city just yet. If we go into the season with what we have... then yeah I'll be front and center with a pitchfork out. But for now I'd say Veach deserves some grace given all his moves have indicated there's a plan and he's not oblivious.

Again - look at the talent on this line. It’s bad. That’s not a coaching problem. It’s a roster problem.
Daley was the man round here? I think not. He didn’t receive very much criticism it seems, but what exactly did he do here? What was the ranking of our DL during his tenure? He was garbage from day one. Now sure some of it is in talent, but Daley never fielded a top 10 DL despite it being one of the highest paid DL in the league. Apparently if there’s something that Veach isn’t great atX it’s identifying DL talent.

Yes but this year it feels like we raised the floor of our team but lowered the ceiling

I really thought he was going to bring Ingram back. But the one thing he has shown this offseason he has a firm number and is not going to over spend on anyone. He is also taking the long term approach. His interview seemed to indicate looking to be a player in next year FA. To a certain degree LT may also be driving the decisions.

I don't know about that, I do think though that the Super Bowl window has closed, and this is year one of building the second SB window with Mahomes.

Raising the floor would’ve been paying Tyreek top dollar while trying to fill all of our needs with limited resources.

Instead, they traded Tyreek which allowed us to load up on young talent while opening up cap space to be players in free agency next offseason and beyond.

This years team has a lower floor than the last couple of years, because we’re going to be playing a lot of young guys.

But if half, or even most hit? If we have multiple rookies balling out like Humphrey, Smith, and Bolton last year?

If some of these year 2-4 guys take huge steps forward on top of it?

This teams ceiling is through the ****ing roof.

Agree that we’re building window #2 but with Mahomes and Andy you always have a chance at a SB.

The guys we drafted should raise our floor considerably. Not hard to upgrade from the shit that was Okafor, Dirty Dan, Honey Vadger and Neimann.

But no I don’t think any of the guys except maybe Skyy Moore (due to Andy/Patrick) will be stars. We drafted a hunch of Nick Bolton esque players. But there’s a ton of value in that. Getting a bunch of good football players enables us to spend big on stars and have flexibility in 2023.

They don’t need to be a top 5 defense. They just need to be a quality defense capable of making stops.

Yeah that's the advantage of having Mahomes and a recent SB win. We don't have to sell out the future to try to win now. We can be viable for the next decade+.
