It would take 2 firsts, I think we know this. I can't fathom how it wouldn't be for us. We just don't pick high enough in rounds. It might not take two 1s for a team picking much higher.

We also know that Jefferson is going to go over the 30 per mark, no doubt. He's said he wants to break the bank. It's not a secret. I'd imagine a 5/160 contract is not out of the realm of likelihood. Money is just money, right?

You can probably have hits set up like 20/23/34/39/44 that includes a 30m signing bonus with 61m GAS and 75m in total guarantees and be right in line with contracts like Hill and Adams.

You can make that work. Will you care as much about those later salaries when Thuney and Kelce are off the books and you can fill those with day 2/3 rookie deals?

This is all for discussion, primarily. The chances that this would ever come to fruition is a fraction of a percent right... but it's not impossible. I'd lean heavily towards we are going to re-sign Chris and we're probably signing Mooney and we're going to keep drafting our way through. It's fun to project though.

2) I didn't say it was easy, you're reading things that aren't there. That said, I can much more EASILY get 2/3 of Sneed's ability much easier than I can 2/3 of Jones and I've said this before as well. I could draft a guy like Koolaid McKinstry or Kamari Lassiter in round 1 and probably not miss a beat with Sneed gone. I can't draft someone in round 1 and not miss Chris' impact because, for starters, DTs usually take a couple of years to really come into their own and make a true impact. That loss would be incredibly large.

I honestly had no idea that McKinstry and Lassiter were as good as Sneed.

They could always go score and win the game though so while not a high output offense they were clutch. Do they need to try and make the offense better with another weapon or two? Sure! Are they desperate? No.

If you’re willing to trade 2 firsts for a WR, use next years first to move up in this draft to get one. Trading this and next years firsts would get us at around 18. One of the top guys will probably still be there at that point.

Or maybe you trade Sneed and our 1 to get into the top 15.

Either of those moves allows us to keep Stone Cold, vastly improve our WR group and gives Josh Williams, Conner, Jones, and Watson all a chance to earn a starting role ipposite McDuffie.

My bad, thought you said, "draft a guy like Koolaid McKinstry or Kamari Lassiter in round 1 and probably not miss a beat with Sneed gone."

If they aren't as good, how are we not missing a beat?

The Vikings have 40m of cap space, and an insane amount the year after. I just don't see why they would trade him

While tagging and trading Jones isn’t theoretically impossible, the likelihood of it is very small. A team would have to give up picks for the right to pay Jones $30+ million a year. Jones may/may not give this team a discount but you can all but guarantee he won’t for another team. Teams also know KC doesn’t want to pay his tag number, so they might just call Veach’s bluff.

Now Sneed is a different story. While keeping him is ideal, if there was ever a tag/trade candidate, it’s him. No player on this team outside of Mahomes would fetch more than Sneed at this point (not taking into account players still on their rookie deal).

I would like to keep both but I understand that might not be possible.

Probably looking to move on from Cousins and would love extra draft capital to move as high as they can for one of the top QB is all I can think of.

I'd have to wonder what the price difference would be between trading for Jefferson and trading up to 1.04 with the Cardinals. If it's comparable or slightly more, I think personally I'd rather trade for Marvin Harrison Jr. at 1.04 (assuming he doesn't go in the first 3 picks). Cheaper contract and all. I get that Jefferson is the sure thing and no college player is ever a 'sure thing', but MHJr is about as close to a sure thing as you can get IMO.

Not saying we'll do either because it seems entirely unrealistic, but just a thought...

kccrow earlier in the thread put out some good reasoning why trading for Jefferson would be like moving up to 11 in the draft. Moving to 4 for Marvin Harrison Jr - especially with some of the high end talent/QBs that people might fall in love it in this draft - would be meaningfully more expensive.

But yes, I think if given the opportunity, every single person would rather have 5 cost-controlled years of MHJr over JJ.
