What kind of wallet are you packing these days?

I'm in the market for a new wallet and I'm not sure where to head. You can buy cheap wallets for three bucks or you can spend $100+ on a wallet.

I've done a needs assessment, and decided the following:

I need enough room to hold approximately four cards: a couple of credit cards, a driver's license, and a health insurance card.

I need a place to hold cash, and preferably a hidden or non-obvious compartment. I'm a baby boomer so I will always carry cash because you never know when the Soviets will launch a nuclear strike and destroy civilization and we'll need paper money to exchange for cans of beans or survival knives. That's how boomers were raised, so don't question me on it.

It would be nice to have some other little compartment for miscellany, like my discount card for the grocery store that's 1/8 the size of a credit card.

I've historically carried my wallet in my right rear pocket, but I'm open to moving it to a front pocket.

I'm kind of intrigued by the phone case that doubles as a wallet, but that means that I'll likely need a new wallet whenever I get a new phone, and that seems wasteful.

What do you have? How do you like it?

Ridge wallet and I won’t go back to the old grandpa leather wallet or the cool kid Volcom velcro.

I use one of those slim aluminum card holder type wallets, similar to what Balto posted. Nothing fancy. Bought it off Amazon because it looked cool.

I absolutely hate having bulky pockets. I went as minimalist as i could. I carry only the cards that matter and rarely do i carry cash.

I got an Rigid style wallet.

It's small...I like it...lot better than carrying a brick in the back pant pocket, sitting on it in the car and breaking the ends of my cards.

Ridge for me, too. Bought back in 2015, still rocking the same one. Doesn't meet some of your requirements, but I'll never go back to a traditional wallet.

I was a back pocket wallet guy for years. Then went NO wallet, just a few cards, license and some cash loose in the back pocket. Loved it.

Then I actually bought a current phone and went ultra slim magnetic wallet with it.

I’m a convert. After years of naked phone and no breakage, I figured a smidge of protection for such a high dollar item wasn’t bad. I went with Mous for both phone case and wallet.

The real question is how often do you guys have to show a license to someone? Must be a lot to need the clear cover. Can’t remember my last time.

I was thinking about this yesterday. I am embarrassed to post a pic. It is a full sized high quality brick made in Germany. It smells good too Zippered side pocket to hold change. Many slots to hold a bajillon cards. Lots of full sized inside slots to hold a bajillion $100 bills and I use one to hold a bajillion receipts. Inside zippered slot to hold god knows what.

I rarely carry it. It stays in my car side map pocket in the door. It is so big, that it is impossible to lose. It is a dinosaur.

Thus, like Rainman, have been thinking of a change.

You guys provided nice choices. I can review what my needs are and determine my next course of action.

This is what I just started using. I'm a wallet in the back pocket guy. Always used some form of a bifold wallet with a cash pocket in it. This one above is moderately thinner than what I'm used to and pretty happy thus far. But it's a transition in knowing where to look for certain cards.
This seems like a good option: 4-6 cards, cash, spot for my business cards. Not sure about coinage (do I really need them?), but would like a place to put receipts.

I second this.

The Ridge wallet may be the last wallet I ever buy. Really sturdy, holds cash well, and it is pretty stylish. I have had the gunmetal Ridge wallet for a couple of years now and it still looks brand new.
