No issue with Wylie being a backup guard behind Thuney and LDT

He will become versed in the Thuney way. Wax on. Wax off...

Seems like a decent hedge in case LDT comes back significantly worse than he has been.

I feel like they're going with a rook or Allegretti at C. Excited to see what he does with a couple of smart vets around him. He was pretty effective as a run blocker. Could be a major upgrade at that spot.

Yep, for some reason i had a 2nd round tender on him in my head... i'm not sure why. That does make it a bit more to stomach.

Wylie is terrible... even as a back-up.

The supposed "knowledge of the offense" asset gives guys like Wylie and Demarcus Robinson way too much/undeserved longevity with the Chiefs.

Not gunna lie was hoping we would move on from Wylie finally. I just dont understand their obsession with him. He's never been good.

But hopefully we never see him on the field anymore so if he's just depth then fine. But still think we could've just signed some random OL off the street for the minimum and he'd be just as good.

I'm guessing they'll move Allegretti to C and they need a backup. Given all the injuries we had across the line last year, it's pretty cheap insurance.

Given how vital the center's mind is to his job, I'd highly prefer the Chiefs to scout and hand-select a C in the draft rather than converting someone to it.

I want to find our Jeff Saturday

Makes sense. Wylie is so tender, soft and delicious....

This is why all of the people saying, "We need to draft 6 or 7 new guards!" were reeruned.

Even if they were just going to roll with Allegretti at LG, it meant Wylie was going back down to the bench where he belonged. He's fine as a backup. I don't know of many teams that necessarily have better options at backup interior OL.

And at that point, does it matter how many other OGs are around? Whether they're rookies, developmental prospects, or veterans?

Yeah, Thuney was expensive, but it was one move, and now we're set at the position. We may still draft a guy, particularly somebody who has G/C flexibility, but this idea of "need" after we took all of our other interior guys and played them at positions they weren't supposed to play at due to INJURY, was bogus to begin with.

Wylie's PFF rating was 5 points higher than the great Cesar Ruiz last season.

The fact of the matter is that every team has an Andrew Wylie on their offensive line because it's impossible to have 5 outstanding players on the line without a huge investment, whether it's via free agency or the draft. The Chiefs roster isn't constructed that way.

A guy like Wylie is fine if he's lined up next to two superior players but if not, his weaknesses are all the more glaring. But as someone else pointed out, Wylie at RG is a different guy than Wylie at Right Tackle.

Experienced depth is important, if not critical, to a Super Bowl Championship team.

The Roaf/Shields line has made Chiefs fans dumb about offensive lines.
