What was it that made Damien so prolific in the postseason?

I’d been thinking about it off and on.

Damien’s regular seasons have puttered along until he takes off in december and doesn’t look back.

10 postseason TDs. Somebody else said that’s more than Edelman.

Is it something in his playing style? Is it just Mahomes? Could anybody else have done this?

Because I don’t think anybody here would even name him a Pro Bowler.

What is it that made Damien so damn prolific in the postseason?

-Damien just has that “it” factor when a big play is needed.

Those things combined have made him a postseason folk hero. I love Edwards-Helaire as much as the next guy but I’m afraid we’re really going to miss Damien this year.
if the chiefs didn't miss a beat with Kareem being out and Jamaal getting old I have no worries about Eclaire stepping in and putting frosting on this offense

Damien Williams had a 4.5 yards per carry average in the regular season in 2019. He had a 5.1 yards per carry average in 2018. His average yards per carry for his playoff career is 4.4. He's always pretty good.

This is why CEH is exciting. It seemed like he had his best games against the best teams.

Because they focused more on our QB, TE, and WR’s.

Same reason as Kareem Hunt when he had success in this system. Andy Reid’s amazing play designs getting them open, quality catch ability+ athleticism, very few LB’s having the same athleticism to actually keep up and then an abundance of weapons that take up so much attention.

He wasnt. Mahomes led the team in rushing in 2 of our 3 post season games.

A BETTER question would be "How did Damien average less that 3 yards per carry most of the season when he is always running against 5 and 6 man fronts with the deep safety playing an extra 15 yards back?"

This offense makes the runners job easy, but damien never really brought the extra defender down like Kareem did. Clyde will, and the deep passing game will benefit

It really is this. Saw an interview with Mahomes talking about the run before the half for a TD in the Titans game and he explained how teams like to double Kelce and Tyreek and it leaves the underneath stuff wide open which is where most of Damiens TDS originate.

That and Damien is good. In the post-season he is exceptional.

CEH will be better though...

Damien only had 3 good games all of last season including the superbowl.

His 2 good regular season games were bolstered by an 84 yard run against the vikings and a 91 yarder against the chargers (that was an awesome run though).

Outside of the few long ones he popped off he wasnt that productive. Especially in short yardage.

Proverbs 29:18 - "Where there is no vision, the people perish".

Damien has both very good vision 'literally and figuratively".

Dude is just a flat out "GAMER". You either have that or you don't.

"BALLER". And now you know why Veach brought this kid in. "BALLER when it counts BIG".

Don't go into scouting my friend.

Spags turned this kid into a player. Spags gets total credit. And lends a lot of credence to the fact that lack of defensive coaching was to blame under Sutton. Just that bad. It seemed Sorenson was always a step behind in previous years, NOT last season !!

This happens all the time in sports. Average players rise up and make big plays in bursts.

Think Buddy Biancalana, David Freese, Colon, and countless others.

Maybe there’s less pressure on guys like this who most have little expectations for?
