Deon Yelder!!

I'm surprised he's barely been talked about tbh. Sunday was the first time he caught passes in the NFL and imo those two catches were very good indeed. The fact that Pat had the confidence to target him must also be a big boost for the kid. It's gonna be interesting to see if Andy decides to get him more involved In the next few games.

I can see what guys are saying about Kelce looking slow, but I only notice this after the catch on curls and comebacks and digs where he catches the ball facing the QB and has to turn up field. He almost seems like's bracing himself for hits and making sure to protect the ball, but I wouldn't doubt that he's lost some burst at this age either.

But when you watch him actually running his routes pre-catch or when he catches a ball in stride he still looks plenty quick for a big man. Look at the route he ran to beat the defender for his touchdown against the raiders a couple of weeks ago as an example. He juked the shit out of him and beat his man like a boss.

I was glad to see Yelder get into the action, too. There are a lot of times 2 and even 3 TE sets are a good thing. At least it doesn't appear to be a coin flip on whether the catches or drops the ball when he's targeted.
To the question does Kelce look slow. He's getting mugged at the LOS without Hill in there. I think it takes him a little time to get a full head of steam on and that might appear to be slow. One of his better receptions last week was when he was standing still and PMII found him. I'll take his 85 yards every game, thank you very much.

Probably wanted to see what he had to decide who to cut when other players come off injuries and suspensions.

Claiborne's end of suspension is the only slot we have to cut someone for. Fisher, Hill, and Williams have just been inactive. Wasn't Yelder hurt in a preseason game? Maybe it's just that he got off walking wounded.

I was excited to see neon Deon take his elk like strides. Like to see Andy work him in and load manage Kelce.

In KC's preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, LB Tyler Mattakevich tackled Deon and rolled up on his ankle. I think Yelder has recovered from that injury and will contribute more as the season goes on.

Having guys on your roster that can play, even if they are 2nd or 3rd team is important. We've seen how teams are playing Travis Kelce by beating the hell out of him. It's always good to have good backups. I hope both Bell and Yelder can continue to grow, but at the same time, hope Travis stays healthy.

I just love that we have a QB who is willing and able to throw the ball to anybody that's open, and that the team seems very happy with that because they're winning and everybody gets to have some fun instead of just getting beat up all the time while a few guys get the glory.

I was happy to see Yelder grab a couple too. It's another weapon the defense has to cover. Doesn't have to be a great weapon...just someone who is 6' 6" and can catch!

When he does the stop and start thing...he looks super slow. When he catches in stride, he looks OK. Not a burner like when he was younger, but certainly good enough. He's not going to outrun anybody, but he still gets open and the ball just sticks to his hands. That's his greatest asset.

Ive seen mentioned that Kelce is slower, and he probably has lost some burst after ankle injuries and a few years of being a 4.5-4.6 240 freak of nature, but part of me thinks its how hes used. with AS11 it seemed like they tried to sneak Kelce out behind a defense when smith mostly only threw short stuff and defenses werent always playing that honest. Now we have some insanely fast guys who Kelce doesnt look fast in relation too at all, but cmon hes lining up between Watkins, Hill, Hardman now vs a broke dick Maclin, Conley, and Jason Avant..

And with Pat and the new line up Kelces job has gone from the only regular mismatch to almost the posession style lay down in the soft spot, usually underneath the secondary wich our widouts have drug 20 yards down the field, and be open when it turns into a backyard play.

If he keeps catching passes like he did on Sunday you'd be a fool to believe he'll remain the third TE.
