If Mahomes ends the season with 5000/52/12, it has to be one of the top-5 QB seasons ever, right?

Considering he’s 23 years old, yes.

Only three players have ever thrown 48 or more TDs.

Only Brady and Manning have hit 50.

Considering our schedule, the 56 record will definitely be in play.

Marino's 1984 season, Brady in 2007 and Manning in 2013 are all incredible as well.
I think Rodgers 2011 is personally the best QB play I've ever seen. From the previous year's playoffs and the Super Bowl through the 2011 regular season he was unstoppable. His stats back it up, but even with the eye test he was a monster because he could make throws Brady and Manning couldn't make.

Do we really need to qualify that stat line with “considering he’s 23 years old”?

I think it would be up there regardless. Especially when you consider the contrast to what Alex Smith did the year before with essentially the same offense.

I just doubt he would play much in week 17 if he’s still on this pace. That likely means we’ve already locked up the 1 or 2 seed.

I couldn't agree more.

Peyton, Brady and Rodgers all obviously read defenses with the best of them, but Rodgers being able to make magic outside the pocket and make throws off his back foot/across his body that Manning nor Brady could really make him the superior QB.

He just doesn't have the resumé.

It's not going to be in play unless Mahomes has a 7 or 8 TD game or something. The Denver-Jax stretch where he threw 1 TD in 2 games put him too far behind the pace.

You really think that can't happen with this QB and these receivers against this CAKE schedule?

It won't be competitive enough for Mahomes to be slinging the ball in the 4th quarter.

Yes, we do. If you don’t factor in his age, he’s probably looking at somewhere between 5 and 7.

If you consider it’s his 1st full year as a starter, he’s easily top 2 all-time, neck and neck with Marino.

Noncompetitive games mean the 2nd half will be the Kareem Hunt show. And it only takes one game where Mahomes only throws 1 or 2 TDs to put him too far behind to make it up. There will be more games where we run the ball for a couple of TDs.
