Fishing
Summer approaches and it's getting closer to the time to get out there and do a little fishing. In the past I was confined to mostly shore fishing. This year however, I decided it was finally time to get a boat. I was going to go with something relatively cheap, in the 2-4k range. I ended up finding this guy and decided to pick it up. Definitely spent more than I wa looking to but honestly, I think it's worth it. Let's me take the kids out tubing, etc. and have some fun with them while they're still at home.
https://www.bismanonline.com/center_...owe_165fs_boat I'm pretty new to boat fishing, my dad had a small little thing when I was younger but it was puny, no trolling motor, etc. and we only took it out a couple times a year because we only had a couple dinky no wake lakes close to us and shore fishing always filled the limit pretty easy. So, what are your plans CP? Boat fishing, shore fishing? What are your tips and tricks? Let's hear it. |

I read the threat title in the lounge as
"Fisting" and thought "wow...enough people to warrant a thread".

I am renovating a 1993 deckboat 190pro. I bought it cheap and am completely going thru it. I am just about done with upholstery and have carb kits on order for the engine. Next up will be carpet. It should be a great alternative to the pontoon boat my wife wanted and the fishing boat I wanted. It has 2 live wells and a huge cooler. The link below is similar to it but mine has a fishing platform in the bow. And mine is the 140 horse outboard.

That's what I like about this you can still ski and tube behind them. top speed is rated at 52 miles an hour so you can get around the lake lot faster than a pontoon boat

I'm chomping to head to Lake Texoma. I bought a place down there but one thing after another .keeps me from going . (7 hours away) As long as I can get down ther some time in April I'm good. I already have a Striper guide lined up for 5/29 to take me and my daughter after her high school graduation.

So as I mentioned, I bought a boat and I'm pretty happy about it. I'm planning to take it out this weekend as we finally have clear lakes up here. I bought a new battery charger to go in it and that means I need to rearrange the battery compartment and wiring, etc.as this is a 3 bank charger instead of the single one that was in there and it's a lot bigger. So I get everything pretty much done but I'm missing a wingnut for one battery. I'm sure the previous owner just used the nut from the spare battery and swapped cables but I just bought a 3 bank charger, the reason I did this is so I wouldn't have to swap cables, etc.. So I decide I need to take a trip to Menards, left at 9, back at 9:30, Got a marine adapter for the battery instead of the wingnut because they didn't have the one I needed, not a big deal, just need to pull the socket set back out. Get it installed, jump off the boat and get the charger plugged in, etc. Check it and it looks like everything is working. Perfect, let's clean up. Grab the 220 piece socket set and forgot it wasn't clipped shut, sockets go everywhere. They're on the deck, in the battery box, down where the water drains from the boat, pretty much every place you can think of. Not a socket left in the box. So now, I've got to get sockets from between the batteries, etc. in all kinds of hard to reach places. About 45 minutes later, I've collected every socket and got it back in it's proper spot, except the 5.5mm socket. My set has pretty much 3 of every size, but only one 5.5mm socket. I don't think I've ever used a 5.5mm socket in 20 years but it is now a guarantee that I will need a 5.5mm socket very soon. So that's it, gotta throw the whole set out and get a new one. =P On the bright side, I found the missing wingnut while scrounging up all those sockets!

One of those extension magnets comes in real handy for those times.
