Rural Internet advice

Mods, I know this belongs in the media center but if you can bare with me I would appreciate it.

I've lurked here long enough to know to know Austin likes bag o dicks, Rain Man got raped on a freighter, sauto is actually Jason, anti-freeze is a good thing, aids and fire go together, bob dole needs a pm, and midnight vulture is entertaining.

That being said, the Youtube thread got me interested and I thought I would start looking again at getting decent internet at my house. I cut the cord 3 years ago and moved back to the country where we have been using only an air antenna for the most part. About two years ago I installed an app on my work cell that lets me run wifi but it bogs down in a freaking heartbeat. While I emjoy the free internet it has became a pain in the ass when I run more than one device for everday use.

So, my question is; does anyone have any experience with rural internet? The phone works great for 1 screen but I'm needing a little more. I know this has been discussed ad nauseam but I would like some fresh takes if anyone has them.

Im sure I've missed a lot of CPs insults so I will welcome them if you have some solid advice. Thanks in advance you worthless bunch of assholes.

And RIP ED, never logged in to say that (theses asshats scare me)

Thanks

I would not appreciate that at all.

We have been through this mess living out in the boonies. Centurylink is the best option we have found.

We signed up with Hughes for about 3 months and paid a $150 cancellation fee to get out of it. Hughes was a horrible experience.

One of our neighbors signed up with them shortly after and thought it was great, for a couple of weeks. They then paid the cancellation fee and are back to Centurylink as well.

Everyone that I've talked to that has Hughes has said the same thing. If I had the Centurylink option I would be all over it but I can't even get that.

We picked up 3 of the Verizon hotspot things, each with 20 g of data. They are pretty quick, on my PS4 last night I was getting about 19 mbps.

Use this site... type in your zip code and it will give you a list of those available in your area. For example, Maryville, MO:

https://broadbandnow.com/Missouri/Maryville?zip=64468

Looks like Suddenlink is your ticket. I would recommend going with an Independent Telephone company, if possible. Their networks are locally owned, typically better than your CenturyLinks or Frontiers of the world, and serviced by local professionals.

Total Highspeed, I think, does rural areas in SWMO/NWA.

If you can get Total Highspeed I would absolutely recommend. They're a good, forward-thinking group that wants nothing but the best for the communities they serve.

I have a co-worker that lives in Ash Grove (outside Spfld). He is using Total High Speed Solutions. Their basic internet sucks, but he was able to sign up to beta test using old analog TV frequencies for internet. He loves it. Not sure how popular this is yet. He was the first I heard of it.

I tried Suddenlink and at&t but neither will service where Im at. The issue is I live on a dead end dirt road and Im the only house. I essentially have a half mile driveway and nobody will run it that far just for me
