*** Official 2017 Royals Offseason Repository ***

The reign is over. Time to begin the quest for the next one.

Interesting offseason opens for the Royals. Will they go all in for one last shot with this crew? Will they re-tool for 2018 and beyond? Will Dayton Moore actually decrease payroll this time?

Trades, free agent signings, rumors, plans, proposals... dump 'em all here, for this is... the offseason repository!

Royals Top Prospects, 2017

This is a list that’s going to seem a little bleak initially, as Raul Mondesi got enough ABs to age out of the prospect rankings (just barely – at 135 ABs, he is not rookie eligible). But that said, I like the talent and feel like this is a system that will actually be underrated by the prospect services.

Spoiler!

All gamblers, take note. Whenever the Royals are ahead, moneyline bet the other team in the 8th for big profit.

Up until this morning, both the KC Star and KCRoyals.com had articles about Moylan being positioned to get the last bullpen spot based on personnel moves. Both articles indicated Moylan could opt out of his contract if he was not added to the 40 roster by yesterday. Both articles are gone and I've have seen nothing about the Royals making room on the 40 man roster to add Moylan. Wonder if any of this means anything?

My guess is that they were trying to shop Christian Colon or something else for a low level guy that won't need to be on the 40-man so they can add Moylen. I figure he has some reassurances from the club that he'll be added by opening day.

Ned talked yesterday about what would happen if Whit Merrifield were sent down to Omaha and how quick he would get called back up. He almost never talks about potential roster moves unless something's up.

Please move Moose to 3 in the lineup, and don't bother with Soria at all. And you will have yourself a good team

Depends on how Mondesi performs. He could take a lot of extra bases and help pad Mooses RBI total

Give Soria 2 chances. Know when to pull out.

I'd love to see Cain and Moustakas and Hosmer shuffled.

Put Cain in the two, Hosmer in the 3, and get Moustakas behind him.

But probably not a major difference. If Gordon bounces back, that's a huge upgrade offensively. Having a quality leadoff hitter and 4-5 good OBP guys at the top of the lineup would bounce the offense up in a big way.

You can only hope Soria has a short leash and Strahm is good enough to fill the setup role (I think he is) when Soria surely fails.

I think you can also hope he bounces back to being a very good reliever.

He's unlikely to be elite again, and you're likely overpaying him, but it isn't crazy to think he can be better.

Strahm is better. Pretty sure of that. But having Strahm available for more of a foreman role in the 6th or 7th probably works out better, anyway (if Ned will use him that way).

I don't think that's what Ned is trying to do, but think back to when Davis was still pitching the eighth, and how often we would wish Yost would use him in that critical spot on the sixth or seventh...
