Report: Chiefs leaning towards franchise tagging Sneed

Multiple sources tell me the Chiefs are trending toward using the franchise tag on star corner L'Jarius Sneed.

I'm told while nothing is 100 percent at this stage, the likelihood of Sneed being tagged is "75-80 percent."

It’s really hard now for Veach to get blue chip players in the draft with how late we pick. But the year we trade Hill? Gets him the extra picks needed to find Trent McDuffie. Blue chip back in the saddle on the cheap. Best non-QB asset in the whole sport.

Offensive Line. I agree that bad receiver play no worry we have Mahomes. Bad Defensive play no worry we have Mahomes. Our OL is the one spot that has proven when bad play happens Mahomes has the most trouble.

So maybe keep focusing on beefing up that OL and let the D and WRs work themselves out.

The “can’t pay everyone” kinda falls on me wrong when they’ve went and paid outsiders at LG, RT, safety etc

They COULD pay sneed if they wanted to. When you’re paying your left guard and right tackle 50 million dollars, things get tight.

So it’s kinda tongue and cheek

Sure but sitting on your money for years just because you think you wanna pay your young guys is a sure way to leave your roster less than, too.

Thuney has been great money spent and I think Taylor is only going to continue to ascend back to where he was after the funky year he went through from the start. Think we got our moneys worth based on his playoff play. Hopefully that’s what we get in ‘24.

I don’t expect any big free agents this year or really next because we are now at the point where we can pay the ‘21 class and then ‘22 next year. But we weren’t there yet in previous years.

Sneed wasn’t viewed as a guy we should even want to extend if we rewind to September.

Because the way the Chiefs use it, simply, is just USING it. It's not like they're out there playing hardball cutthroat with the tag and using it two years in a row on players with no leverage.

I’d guess there’s maybe 3 guys on the roster they end up extending, so it’s kinda overblown.
