He is not going to get near Cal Ripken's record, so what is the point? You hear the coach speak on why other guys need the day off, and yet the same does not apply to Merrifield for some reason. Then we also hear how playing the outfield tires out his legs more than the infield and was even used as an excuse with his slow start.
