*.* NEW- 2014 General Fitness Thread *.*
I guess we filled up the old one... http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=280149
Welcome to 2014! Now get your ass in top physical condition! No one else started it so here it is! **From the 2013 Thread** If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs If you have questions about the SS programs, look here: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started. Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE: http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point. |

Don't be afraid to eat if you want to start bulking, however. I lift in the campus gym during the school year and I've been watching the same 4 dudes or so spin their wheels for the past 2 years wondering why they aren't gaining weight at 2k cals a day. If you're too afraid of putting on fat you won't gain any muscle. Get on a real program and shoot to gain 2.5 lbs a month if you want to minimize fat gains. Find a macro calculator and hit them as consistently as you can. |

After basically starving myself so I can lose 50 lbs and not lifting any weights in several years, I finally benched 225. Baby steps, but I'm definitely proud of myself.

Not too shabby.
Could just be my perception or my choice of gyms but I'd say most men can't bench 225 so you're on the right track. |

Depends home far you want to carry them. My gym has up to 48kg kettle bells. One of those in each hand going up the alley behind the gym is pretty tough.

And get some ****ing chalk if you can't grip them Billay. If you use gloves, you're the equivalent of a woman. Lifting with gloves is senseless for anything.

You just said 45 lb. kettle bells are heavy.
Just screwing with you, though. I'm weak as hell these days and haven't focused seriously on strength training in years. Hit goal of 405 deadlift and sort of lost interest in going really heavy (not that 405 is heavy for a lot of people).
