Not sure if the Wizards winning a few will mean much to Draymond's chances either way.

Just busting your chops.

I don't understand the argument that Green is some monster defender.

Good post up players in every head-to-head I've seen (Blake Griffin, Lamarcus Aldridge etc..), are usually around their season average, and sometimes better when they matchup with Green.

Most overrated player in the NBA.

He's really only talked about because he plays for GS and does all of the dirty work for the Splash Brothers.

Draymond being compared to pau? Seems like a better version of Horace grant to me. Before rushing to say he was a product of MJ, he was also excellent on Orlando too.

You don't think they would have won the championship this year without him?

I can't wait for Love or Irving to be traded and for the player they trade for to magically regress when playing with LeBron and then be made the scapegoat.

Ron Artest.

Arrest was a guy who could guard anywhere from 1-4 credibly (in an era with plenty of true 5s, unlike today). He was an underrated passer and solid rebounder.

When allowed to dominate the ball, he was an okay volume scorer but not someone you could build a contender around because his offense wasn't nearly polished enough.

I think they're very, very similar players.

A little closer, but MWP is a much better scorer.

Jerry West says 'see ya GSW'. He indicated in an article a couple of weeks ago that he didn't like the super team concept and at the time it was hinted he'd leave for the Clippers. Looks like they were correct.

the way I look at it is...

Draymond came out of college and he was a positionless tweener thats what all the scouts said back in 2011/2012, this guy doesnt have a position in the NBA blah blah.

His first couple years Mark Jackson had no clue what to do with him and when they got Kerr they literally made a position/role for Draymond and the teams wins skyrocketed and they went right to contender.

They play him everywhere, when he slides to the 5 in the Death Lineup the offensive rating on the Warriors sky rockets. Yea he gets beat on the defensive end but hes 6 foot 9 playing center and hes turning every traditional big man into the modern day NFL fullback on the defensive end. Hes forcing teams to almost not play certain players against the Warriors cause of the mismatches he creates.

He doesnt play 1 set position the whole game, they move him around, hes the perfect compliment to a superstar from a team building standpoint. How many other teams in the NBA have someone like a Draymond Green to pair with their star? I cant think of another player right now like Green.

He became a better scorer when he was allowed to dominate the ball, but he was never an efficient or fluid scorer.

If Green was the best player on a team, I don't doubt for a second that he could put up 20 ppg if he was allowed to play the way that Artest did. Artest was a little more powerful (guy had crazy strength for his frame) but I think Green is a more technically sound shooter (not necessarily better, but more sound) and has comparable handles/athleticism.

I think their use is so much different that it's hard to close the book on the argument. If given similar freedom, I think Artest would've still been a little better scorer than Green, but perhaps not by as much as you might think. When Artest was scoring 20+ points/gm he was doing it on 17 shots/gm. I think Green could approach that kind of scoring with that kind of volume.

That's an excellent point.

Green at the 5 isn't going to be able to stand up to true 'traditional' centers but because of how badly he allows the Warriors to abuse said traditional lineups on the offensive end, teams have to play differently against GS.

So his offensive game and defensive versatility are so perfectly complementary that it makes his defensive skills 'play up' so to speak, by forcing teams to avoid the mis-matches that could give him trouble.

Dude's a unique player. I don't think he's underrated by any stretch but I think he's pretty appropriately rated because of what he allows teams to do around him.
