As much fun as all of the controversy has been the last couple days, the mods have discussed all of this craziness (yes, there are enough of us to have discussion now!) and decided to clarify a few things. So...here ya go.

The rules aren't changing. They're the same as they've been for years.
We WILL be trying to enforce them a little more consistently. Things like bypassing the filters and threats will be handled when reported, and sometimes when they're not. Just depends on how cranky we are.
However, we aren't going to go banning people on sight unless they either refuse to comply or have been a repeat offender. You'll get a warning or two if you're doing something that's iffy.
The infractions system is not meant to be used to rapid-fire infractions to get someone banned. Anyone who uses them for that purpose (unless you're killing spammers) will lose the privs immediately.

That said, Hootie fully reinstated and can consider this a warning that he went too far. CC can consider this a warning not to abuse the infractions system (as can H5N1). GoChiefs would be unbanned as well, but you can't come back screaming "**** the mods" and expect that to be all fine and dandy. However, his sentence is being reduced back to two weeks. He needs some time to work on his next video anyway.

I know this whole deal has been a bit of a mess, but just wanted to reemphasize that nothing's changing. In general, don't be a douchebag, and you'll be fine. The end.

ok, so I am looking at a new place to lease in Austin... but here is my dilemma(which is a side discussion.. I KNOW I was taught to spell it dilemNA not dilemMA... so when did that change? pisses me off)

Ok, here is the dilemma... the PERFECT place for me got snatched up last January 1st.. within 2 blocks of almost everyplace I go downtown (clients, store, pub, sports bar, etc) AND it has a 300 sq ft private balcony with a hot tub on it.

So the question is.. do I try to get a 7 month lease in a place I can tolerate and hope for it to become available or do I just forget about it and get a place I like better but requires a 12 month lease? Or do any of you have any alternate ideas?

If you can get a seven month lease on a place you can tolerate, can you get a seven month lease on a place that you like more instead of a twelve? Also, do you know that one of the ones you have your heart set on will open up in seven months?

1. Lightly sabotage the place you want forcing the current tenants to break the lease.

2. Pick up the lease at a lowered price because some lunatic keeps smearing dog shit on the windows at random times.

3. ???

1. The place is a secure building with a live guard and electronic safeguards / surveillance.

2. The unit I want is on the 8th floor.. may be tough to reach the windows.
