Well the love here for DJ is almost off the charts here! Last year everybody was up in arms, bitching he's done, washed up, don't bring him back, etc!
This year, bring him back! We need him! He knows this, he knows that! How long before you bitch this year about his slow ass again? I will say this, last year Ragland played alongside of DJ and was in place, he looked a lot better last year before taking DJ's place in some plays. So bringing DJ back is going to makes Rags better or is it going to make Hitchens better? Maybe both? Yep, it's casino time, roll them dice people. No wait, Veach has to, it's the typical fan base wanting to call the shots! Look, it's well documented I was on the DJ train right out of college and we probably should have went QB. Does DJ have enough in the tank to produce a few plays, direct the D a few plays to make a difference? Sure it is a small risk. But know this, with the long SB drought and our offense has this fan base going crazy, slobbering at every possible scenario thinkable and unthinkable. With most not only not available, but not even plausible. There is only so much cap space, trades you can make. It's not Monopoly or the typical NFL football fan playing fantasy football. Yes, ILB play has been bad, so has our safety position, some CB play, the DL, bench play plus our favorite whipping post boys, the DC and coaches. I think that covers it. Now with that said, how are you fixing all of that now? Much of those answer have been covered by many post here in some fashion. Truth is, it's going to take a lot to do it now, a band aid. It's up to the Chiefs brain trust to figure out if DJ can lift up the ILB position enough to help. They have to look at the safety position abroad and figure out what will help. Just a day and a half ago this place was going crazy about a trade for a CB, Peterson. There is nothing any of you can do except maybe call Tony on the Corona Hot Line, grab a cold one and sit with your buddies, watch the game, it's all you can do.

I'll take him based on his leadership, knowledge and presence alone. Plus, he is dirt cheap and wouldn't cost as much against the cap. Anything and anyway to help the defense as much as possible. That's how we should be thinking at this point.

How about having him as both a coach and a player?
The key is, you don't play him every down. Play him maybe a third or two of the downs? And at the same time he could coach up Ragland and Hitchens. Maybe teach them a thing or two about coverage schemes since they need that desperately.

I think there's a difference between a coach that doesn't play linebacker but knows the position theory compared to guy that knows linebacker play in theory and has practical knowledge about it within this defensive system or scheme that the Chiefs are currently running.
