And Gilmore was very good on limited snaps. I don't know what I'm getting from either of them at this stage, but either way is it a likely move for Veach?

I agree he’s not currently declining, but if we trade for him, we’re extending him and I’m sure that extension will be for his declining years after NY got his prime years. He turns 29 before the season starts and he’s a big corner. Once he loses a half step, his value plummets and that can happen anytime.

He’s a good player and would help the 2022 Chiefs…for sure…probably the 2023 Chiefs, too…but then you try to get out of the contract and jump through the dead money hoop.

I’d much rather draft a CB in the 4th round.

That's not what we're talking about though.

Gilmore is 31, hasn't played a full season since 2019 and wants to be paid off his past successes.

Bradberry is 28, currently gets $13 million and probably costs a day 3 draft pick.

If I'm forced to choose one....I'm choosing Bradberry 10 out of 10 times.

For sure and I almost posted that same thing in my response. He isn't on the decline now but he likely will be by the time his contract comes due.

And if that's the case....do you have any doubts that Veach wouldn't be able to figure out a contract that works out for the team?

Other than Clark...his contracts have been good or better.

He wasn't very good last year, even accounting for The Franchise's point about his improving through the year. I don't think he's ever had the sort of sustained elite play Gilmore provided. Gilmore may or may not be finished, I just don't think Bradberry is worth giving up picks for and I'm not convinced it's a "Veach move" any more than the Gilmore one would be - but I guess we'll see. Maybe where there's smoke there's fire.

That's fine. I think Bradberry's had one decent season and a whole load of average and I'd rather keep the pick. Not saying Gilmore is a particularly smart move, but do you think Bradberry is a likely Veach move?

I think Veach and his crew of salary cap experts has managed the cap extremely well BECAUSE they never trade for older vets like Bradberry.

I really like Gilmore, but for us to sign him, it would be closer to camp and after a season ending injury to Fenton or Snead. A desperation type move. Not a move you make before the draft, unless there’s surplus value in the contract…which would be HIGHLY unlikely.

For me, I could make sense of the Bradberry trade, even if I'm not totally in favor.

Gilmore, however, makes zero sense. Like Boss said, it seems like a desperation move.

I think you're right, and I also think The Franchise's point re his injury history since 2019 means it's probably not a great idea. I'm not sure his play has dropped off the cliff as some suggest, but I guess that's the point - who knows.

No, not interested. Any cap space needs to go towards the DL or WR.
