That was our best shot and we missed it

I know it sounds irrational because it was essentially just year 1 for Mahomes, but this was probably our best ****ing shot and we failed (because of a ****ing offsides penalty). We have two more years of Mahomes on his rookie deal (he’ll get paid before year 5), and I just feel like it’s unlikely that we get the 1st seed with a relatively injury free season again before it’s time to pay up.

As long as Patrick Mahomes stays healthy we will always have a good shot at a SB. We will have Mahomes, Hill, and Kelce for the foreseeable future. We still have Watkins for atleast 2 more seasons. So the offense will be a juggernaut for a while. I know we didnt make it to the SB (we were literally there if not for a ****ing offsides penalty that will make me sick to think about the restcof the offseason) I think this year was proof that with with a power house O you will always have a chance to make it even if your D is complete garbage.

Hell with a top 25 D this team is probably undefeated and we are probably in the SB. So the O is only going to be better next year with everyone returning. Mahomes gets another offseason with his receivers and gets his deep ball timing with Hill down, then this offense is even better than this year was. If the Defense gets just a little bit better, which I think can be done with a different coordinator, then we have a very high chance of winning the whole thing.

Berrys old broke dick ass should have never played and I think we win that game. Gronk abused him and hes slow and broke.

Im pissed about the loss, but I think we will have this opportunity a bunch more.

Yep, nothing at all has changed since 1984. The game is exactly the same as it was 35+ years ago. As goes Dan, so goes PMII?

In 3 or 4 years Brady will be retired and Mahomes will take over. I have a hard time seeing this year as a better opportunity than that.

I get you man. I really do. But we just had the best season we’ve ever had since 1970. That’s damn good for the first year of the Mahomes era.

Idk if I’m too worried about Pat getting paid. That won’t kick in until 2021 and Berry and Houston will be off the books.

Hate to be Debbie Downer here, but realistically - the window is the next two years.

Once Patrick signs the biggest deal in NFL history ($200+M according to Schefter?) it's going to be hard to keep this stable of All Stars.

Christ, we have cap problems NOW and he's on a rookie deal.

Veach has his work cut out for him.

This was not our best shot.

This team has 15-1 potential.

We’re bringing back basically the entire offense plus whatever may be added. We’re now replacing Sutton and adding to the defense.

This team is going to be extremely dangerous next year.

You don't know this, and I completely hate this attitude. Not just from you, but from everyone else wringing their hands over this rookie deal-horse shit. How many ****ing teams do you think are going to accomplish a Super Bowl with their second year starting QB? Not many.

I told you and several others who kept proclaiming that "defense was dead"/"defense didn't matter", and that the Chiefs were going to pass-pass-pass their way to a Super Bowl were completely out of your ****ing minds. And lo and behold, what came to pass? Exactly what I told you.

The Chiefs don't need 4 weapons on offense for Patrick Mahomes. They need at most 2 proven, outstanding guys coupled with some smart players who can be above average, and a WHOLE LOT of O-line fixing. If you give Mahomes time in the pocket, he, like Brady, will kill you.

What the Chiefs DO NEED, is a defense that can perform better than 31st overall for the season, and who know how to read an offense and adjust accordingly. Thankfully, step one of the process has just occurred. Today.
They don't even need to be top 10. Or top 15 for that matter. Of course I personally want better, but I'm talking about 2019. NE defense finished at #21 overall for the regular season. If the Chiefs can get their defense even in the low 20's for 2019, they have every shot in the world of re-seeding at #1.

To sum up, this was NOT our best chance. Not at all. And an aging Tom Brady with a stout O-line, a below average defense, and great coaching combined with a refusal to lose attitude and organization just marched right in to Arrowhead Stadium, and proved my very point to you and everyone else.

We'll be back and PMII will lead and be the face of this league, but first we have some work to do and some ruthlessness to acquire.

It's a valid point. How many AFC Championship games have we hosted? Anyone?

Doesn't mean it's gonna be our only shot, but it really may have been the best shot we'll see, the easiest road to the Super Bowl. We were better than the Pats, and that game was clearly winnable. Period. But we (again...) got outcoached. We blew a real, palpable shot at a title.

It sucks, I know. But it is what it is.

The journey was insanely fun. I get that people want to beat their chests as victors, but damn, enjoy the journey. This was the most fun I've had as a Chiefs fan ever. I can't imagine how that is a waste.

The Chiefs overcame a 14-0 lead in the second half and took the lead with 2 minutes to go. They were literally 6 inches from a masterful comeback over Bill and tom.

I just can't get to outcoached. They lost in overtime because a guy lined up in the neutral zone.
