A job is a job. If you allow teams to 'protect' more prospects by giving them an NFL roster spot, that's fine. I think that benefits all parties.

I would just like to see something where guys can be developed a little more. It's tough and maybe it's just going to be that way because of the physicality and short careers in the NFL. It won't ever be like baseball where you can develop them thru the minors, just can't do it from a physical standpoint. |

Yeah, that's a better idea.
Just do away with the PS, give them more roster spots. You'll have to increase the amount of guys you pay, but this thing makes so much ****ing money, it won't hurt them. |

Go ahead and cross Hyde off the list. |

Hopefully the players demand this in the CBA.

I see absolutely no reason to keep T. Smith. Speed and PFF grades aside, how many times did he get past the 25 last year? DAT or Pringle can get flattened just as easily. DOD hasn't shown me much this year and if you move Ragland, he's the odd man out. You have Claiborne listed, but he'll be out for 4 games. Do you plan on keeping both Miller and Fenton after he returns? I am a little worried about the TE position. Carrying only 2 isn't wise in my book. Does anyone have an update about Yelder? |

I haven't seen Pringle receive any KO or PR this preseason. Where are they moving Ragland? DOD has so much athleticism it is hard to think they would just cut him. He has had a hard time adjusting to the zone scheme but with said athleticism you have to give him a chance. By week 4 we have no idea what all might have transpired so we will have to see what happens then. I heard Yelder was put on Reserved/Injured. He will have to be out for at least 6 weeks. That is his 2cd injury this preseason. We will have to see if someone gets cut on roster reduction day. They might find someone they like better.

Moore is 35, so I see him as nothing more than a 1 year rental since that's all they signed him for.
You must have been sleeping on Pringle returning KOs. He has 3 for 87 yards vs. Smith's 3 for 61. https://www.footballdb.com/teams/nfl...y-chiefs/stats They moved Ragland over to the SAM last game and I think he may have been there late in the 2nd. See Post 153 in this thread. |

I looked at those stats again and it looks like Hardman returned 2 KOs for 65 and 3 punts for 2 yards. If I remember correctly, he was having some problems on punts early in camp. Didn't DAT return punts for awhile?

Remember, if you want the ability to possibly bring a player back off the IR, they HAVE to make the initial 53 man. So if there are any thoughts of putting him on the IR and then bringing him back, the Chiefs still have to make enough cuts to keep him on the 53 man at the roster deadline. Then they can IR him and potentially re-sign one of the guys they cut. It is unlikely to have a huge impact either way, but it's something you have to remember when assembling your proposed 53 man rosters. Likewise with Henne or anyone else you want to 'stash' on the IR. If you put someone on the IR before the 53 man roster deadline, they're out for the year and are not eligible to return.

If he's showing steady hands in practice I think he'll still be the primary punt returner but if he isn't, that could be why we're not seeing him in games as much. And yes, DAT returned punts for a bit. I don't think he was all that effective because he just didn't seem to have the vision (would seemingly always make the wrong fair catch decision), but my memory is that he had very good ball security.

In good news because of how it was imposed the Chiefs don't have to open a roster spot for Claiborne he can just go directly to the suspended list.

I kinda like having DAT return most of the punts. He's not really imperative to the offense like Hill and he was actually decent at it.
