I like going for it here. I'd have liked going for it more if they decided to run the ball on 3rd down and get a few more yards.

My guess is that he hadn't decided on going for it until it actually got to 4th down, which is the mistake there. It's either 4 downs all the way there (and you call your plays accordingly) or it is not.
