Did Mahomes regress this season?
Obviously the stats are not as gaudy as 2018.

Even without the injury, his stats would have been down.

Are his stats down because the team didn’t have to lean on him so hard or are they down because he regressed in the red zone?

Great point, totally agree. I think the offense is focusing more on complimentary football than going out there and trying to be the greatest show on turf, and it’s helped foster this team’s more balanced game.

The thing is, that offense is there when we absolutely need it (as long as Pat is healthy) and any sane Chiefs fan knows this. Mahomes may never throw 50 tds again, but do I trust him to win the game with the ball in his hands? Yeah, I do, with impunity.

His two game ending drives against the Patriots and Titans are some of the most insane sequences I’ve seen. What’s more insane is that I expected it. I know the kick got blocked against Tennessee but the fact that he even got us in a position to kick a realistic field goal is nuts.

It's the truth. Give him solid protection and Patrick will make something positive happen. Even when he was torching the Jaguars in Week 1, he was getting beat up pretty bad due to lousy protection by the OL.
