Foskey was going to be the pick at 31 if he was there. I can almost guarantee it.

Taking him in the 1st is the kind of arrogance that eventually undid the Martz era Rams. Convert guys, chase luxury items, eventually watch your roster crumble as your primary skill position players age out.

I "think" I've only ever said that he's probably a very high 2nd. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure about that.

A good portion of the draft guys out there have him around 20-24 in their player rankings though.

I can take the criticism on the basis of what you have there in regard to Martz.

Ya crow but what the ****.

Seriously what in the ****?!
I think I probably should have explained the pick better? Everyone is hung up on RB, honestly. That's what they see and just say ****ing RB and don't care about the rest of it. Then, many of the same people that criticize the idea or pick also love Deebo Samuel. And even those that don't mind a RB and always scream to trade for Alvin Kamara hate on the pick.

And maybe nobody sees him as the player I do. Gibbs is a phenomenal receiver and he didn't just run RB routes. He got split out and played actual WR at times. He's a really, really good receiver.

Everyone on this forum knows I preach not to take a RB in round 1. I'm not taking a RB in my eyes. I'm taking a guy that's going to be an easy convert to WR but retains the versatility to flex in when there's a matchup to exploit in a similar way to Deebo. Imagine having a guy that can play slot WR, Z WR and McKinnon's role out of the backfield? You can just move him around and create matchups.

What I like so much about Gibbs that really sets him apart from these other options at "WR" is his fluidity and slipperiness in space and that instant acceleration. He's also simply built thicker than most short WRs.

And then he's fast. He's 4.36 fast. There are only two faster skill players in this draft: Devon Achane and Trey Palmer. Gibbs is a little bigger, a little longer, shifter, bigger mitts than Achane and I think he's a better receiver. Palmer is a bit unreliable with his hands and nowhere near as shifty. So you're getting the speed to go with that fluidity and agility in space.

If you can envision a faster version of Deebo, you should love this idea. I just don't think people can get past the fact that he played RB.

And then look at the Chiefs... McKinnon had 56 catches for 512 yards and 9 TDs last year while only running 72 times for 291 yards. McKinnon was a HUGE part of the passing game. Gibbs projects as an even better player out of the backfield and a runner that's more like Jamaal Charles. In college, Gibbs averaged 34 catches and 404 yards receiving. Imagine if you never had to take Gibbs off the field because he can slide between the slot and McKinnon's backfield role? He could effectively replace Hardman and McKinnon in one pick. Give him 80 receptions a season like Kamara got his first few years in the league and I'd bet he outproduces Kamara because he's simply faster and more agile.

And that's where I rebut what DJ presents with the conversion history of Martz. He makes a fair point, but this is a player I think you can use as a versatile weapon that can absolutely house it on any play. He's that good. I think he's going to be a special, special player. If he's there at 31, which I doubt more if Ekeler gets traded, then I'd absolutely champion KC picking this kid. I really don't think he'd be a "luxury pick." There are a lot of touches available for a guy like this regardless of what position he ends up being labeled. He'd run it a little and catch it a lot at the end of the day and that might account for 1/6th of the production of the offense.

Anyhow, that's my rant on how I see it and why I see it. If he's not the pick, then may he suck alot of dick wherever he goes, hahaha.

The New York Jets select John Michael Schmitz, C, Minnesota

The Jets can definitely upgrade over Conor McGovern and use multiple talent infusions along the O-line. Schmitz is the top-ranked Center prospect in this draft and projects to be a solid pro. Protecting Rodgers will be prioritized.

For your sake, I hope this Gibbs fellow ends up being a better pick than my Zack Baun pick in the first round of the 2020 draft.

Not a great history in the CP Draft with the Chiefs pick. There have only been a few good picks in over a decade. I was just looking back after Pest posted about drafting Richardson. Take a look at this:

2022: 30. Kansas City Chiefs - TambaBerry - Devin Lloyd, LB, Utah
2021: 31. Kansas City Chiefs - staylor26 - Samuel Cosmi, OT, Texas
2020: 32. YOUR Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs! - Rain Man - Zach Baun, LB, Wisconsin
2019: 29. Kansas City - DJ's left nut - Garrett Bradbury, C, NC State
2018: 54. Kansas City - Hoover - Lorenzo Carter, OLB, Georgia
2017: 27. Kansas City - BossChief - Pat Mahomes II, QB, Texas Tech
2016: 28. Kansas City - MarcoPolo - William Jackson, CB, Houston
2015: 18. Kansas City - Direckshun - Cameron Erving, C, Florida State
2014: 23. Kansas City Chiefs - Sfeihc - Marquise Lee, WR, USC
2013: 1 Kansas City - SNR - Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia
2012: 11 Kansas City Chiefs (Pestilence) - Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama
2011: 22. COLTS (Rams Fan) Anthony Castonzo, OT, Boston College
2010: 5 CHIEFS (OnTheWarpath58) Eric Berry, FS, Tennessee

Wow, what an absolute train wreck. I guess you can bat with that low an average when the one HR is the grand slam selection of Patrick Lavon Mahomes II.

In my defense, it often takes linebackers five years or so to learn the position and get up to speed. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

I can dig the Gibbs pick ... I think he can be as dynamic as a receiver as Zay Flowers and he can do a lot more on top of that.

I can see the plan/logic behind it.
