Championship Sunday was filled with pivotal plays and penalties in both games that swung the fates of teams battling for a Super Bowl berth.

One of the biggest was an offside penalty on Kansas City Chiefs pass rusher Dee Ford. Officials flagged Ford for lining up in the neutral zone on a play that resulted in Charvarius Ward intercepting New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

Penalty dooms Chiefs
The interception that would have all but sealed a Chiefs victory was wiped off the board with around a minute left in regulation, and Brady marched the Patriots to a touchdown before New England eventually won in overtime.

Unlike the game-changing fiasco in New Orleans, there was no wrangling over this call. Ford was clearly lined up well into the neutral zone. Heartbreaking? Yes. Controversial? No.

Except Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Monday that he wasn’t completely satisfied with how officials handled Ford on the pivotal penalty.

Andy Reid: Ford wasn’t warned he was offside
“Normally, you’re warned and the coach is warned if somebody is doing that before they throw it in a game of that magnitude,” Reid told reporters. “But they did. And he didn’t waste any time in doing it.

“He didn’t wait until the interception to throw it. He had his hand on his flag right from the get go, and he saw it from his angle, and he thought it was the call.”

Neutral zone infraction rule
Section 3 of the NFL rule book entry on neutral zone infractions addresses that a player who has been warned about infractions is to be automatically penalized, even if he corrects his illegal position prior to the snap.

A player, after he has received a warning, enters into the neutral zone. It is a foul, even if he returns to a legal position prior to the snap without contacting an opponent or causing a reaction (movement) by an offensive player in close proximity.
What isn’t addressed there and what isn’t clear to the viewer is how and when players are warned. Whatever that process is, Reid appears to believe Ford was not afforded a warning he believed he was due.

If Mahomes should have got Roughing the passer, than Brady's roughing the passer was rightly called.

That wasn’t a catch, under the new rule or the old rule. The entire ball was on the ground and his hand wasn’t under it.

Listen. I actually pay attention to what the rule actually is. The Hogan catch and non catch as called on the field are not the same. The Hogan catch he gets control before he hits the ground. Here comes the new rule change! Hogan hits the ground ball moves. This is borderline, looks like it's coming out but the ball is allowed to move, so they ruled the call stands because it's too close to tell. The world bitched and then they got their rule changed. Now the world must sleep in the bed they made(bitched).

The Hogan non catch Hogan uses the ground to get control of the ball first.

But they overturned the muff punt because video evidence showed he didn’t touch it...which was the right call.

Nobody complains about that, see.

But people do complain about straight up bullshit calls...

All those camera angles for the muff punt...not one showing Ford offsides...but one right before the play with the ref say omg he has Brady’s back to him before the flag that came wayyy late....again, I think it was the right call...but the inconsistencies are maddening. He should have been warned as the angle that has been shown since shows Ford barely off sides.

The ball is on the ground while trying to secure it on the hogan catch. No way it’s a catch.

The roughing call on Jones was nonsense.

Both calls changed the whole game.

I'm a moron for understanding when he actually got control of the ball according to the rule. Ok man!

It's not when he grabs it with his hands that he has control. It's when he tucks it into his forearm and arm. The laces are not moving then.

As for the ball looking like it's on the ground. There's another view where it's still in between his forearm, arm, chest, barely. The ball is allowed to touch the ground, the ball is allowed to move. And yes it's on the limit! But dem the wording of the rules. The world bitched about the Jesse James non-catch. And the other catch with the Jets in the endzone. So they changed the rule for the bitches of the world. You got what you wanted! Now you have to sleep in it! That's why the call stood. The other Hogan catch it's pretty clear he uses the ground to gain control.

Dee Ford is clearly offside and the side judge has perfect view of it. Trey Flowers was barely offside, he didn't get warning either. And the flag was immediate, watch the play again. It was immediate. Only the CBS broadcast didn't show a flag right away.

As a bandwagon fan I don't know what it's like to be a homer. All I know is winning. Last season we won with Big Dick Nick. This season we were supposed to win with Mahomes but ****ing Andy Reid wrecked that dream. All you had to do was run the ****ing run ball against their light front Andy Reid! God I hate you!

I haven't decided who I'm bandwagoning on next season. I'm thinking of jumping on the Browns Bandwagon with Baker Mayfield. I don't think the Chiefs will win a Super Bowl with Andy Reid. Time to pull a Stephen Ross(Dolphins owner) and go behind Andy Reid's back and secretly negotiate for the next hot shot. Like a monkey, make sure you have your hand on one branch before you let go of the previous one. Then the new hot shot coach can lead the Chiefs to the promise land. I might even return to jump back on the Chiefs bandwagon!

I don't usually lose, I blame Andy Reid. God damn him!
