Hard to believe

It is an offense-driven league, yes. But both defenses had opportunities to get stops inside the last two minutes to win the game. The Rams did it twice. The Chiefs shit the bed.

All contending teams have the same problem, but we have it to a much worse degree.
The Chiefs final actual defensive series of the game was 3 plays and -1 yards, giving Mahomes the ball back with 1:04 and a timeout. He promptly tried to go for it all and threw a pick.

At some point, you're going to have to take the whole of it and not just pick out the parts you want and discard the rest.

I get it that you love Sutton.

I think it is time for a change after this season.

New DC, some fresh talent, and I think things on D can turnaround fairly quickly.

Veach needs to draft well too...instead of drafting players out of position, he needs to draft players that can be coached up and can contribute right away---no reaching until the later rounds.

I do not think this team can win a Super Bowl as long as Bob Sutton is the DC. I would love to be proven wrong on this but I am skeptical at this point.

And then he blows it on the game-losing TD.

Rams obviously made Scandrick a focal point of their script at the beginning of the game and they went back at him in some key situations.

Scandrick is one of the most penalized DBs in the league as well, so that increases your chances of success in throwing at him.

Sure, it’s what always happens when you don’t make the play.

I don't think anybody walking the earth loves Sutton. Except Reid, obviously. But I don't think anybody could make a stout defense out of this group.

It's too much to ask for this defense to be good with the personnel it has. We can argue all day long about Sutton being the right person to lead the defense in future years, maybe he's not, but if you don't have the personnel then the rest doesn't matter.

I don't love Sutton. Why is that the go to ad hominem whenever people disagree with "X player/coach sucks"? Are you 12?

I don't care if they fire Sutton. I'm more interested in actually FIXING the defense and firing Sutton isn't going to do that. Therefore, firing him isn't high on my priority list.

Which team do you think will win the Superbowl and how is their defense doing?

Come on now...that was more on the Rams for being too aggressive and throwing the ball.

Sure, the defense got the ball back. Give them credit for that (even though the Rams gifted them a TO by throwing). And Mahomes certainly failed to take advantage by throwing his worst INT of the year.

But saying the defense was good in the last two minutes like you are implying just is not true.

Rams gave us an extra chance with poor clock management and some bonehead offensive play calling. Mahomes failed to capitalize on that and that is on the offense and him.

But if the defense gets a stop when it had the chance, the game was over. The Rams had NO timeouts left and we gave up an easy, easy, score.

No team has ever scored 50+ points in a game and lost. So add that to Sutton's 2, historical blown playoff leads and he is building quite the resume.....

So the Chiefs got a stop because the Rams were too aggressive but Mahomes trying to go for it all, leaving to two INT's, was good defense by the Rams?

I'm out. Can't debate double standards.
