Not to throw a wet blanket - but can anyone remember the last time a defensive player was traded for mid-season and came in to make a real difference?

The Chiefs need to look for a safety for sure, but they would be better served looking for a ILB or more DL.

2018, the year Landon Collins was traded to the Chiefs and he propelled them to their first Super Bowl win in 49 years.....aka, it has to happen sometime. Why not this year.

Between berry, Sorenson (soon... Odaniel) , and watts... Good chance we'll have several chances to upgrade this year at safety without giving up picks or spending a ton of long term cash. Much as I'd love to get Landon it just doesn't feel like it's worth giving that much up. It doesn't feel like a priority right now. If we want to trade for band aids with low picks, have at it. I'd really like to focus long term on either corner or keeping our star players.

Ian Kinsler to the Red Sox is the most recent I can think of. He definitely shored up their defense up the middle this year.

Berry ain't playing, Sorenson is JAG coming off half a season of downtime, and Watts is on IR.

None of them are helping this year in a meaningful way.

Signing Collins, a 24-year old pro-bowler is the definition of "focusing long term".

Have to agree with this. Pretty sure Veach would work this deal with intent of getting long term deal. But wouldn't be upset with a one year rental that got us over the hump in the playoffs.

I'd be leery of giving up a pick and giving him a long term deal right away. That's gonna be tough to get done i'd imagine that quick.

I'd rather have Collins going forward than Berry but I'm not sure they can make that happen.

I'm leery of wasting the best season by a Chiefs QB in the history of the franchise.

Well, that QB is also 23 and will be here for a while.
