How Excited or Not ..Are You??

The guys at work are kind of meh about the upcoming playoff game. They say if we play Pitt we will lose. Out of 3 people I talk to about our chances 2 out of 3 say we won't win at home!
I think more excitement will build when we know who we play. Personally I'm very excited and don't care who we play.. more worried about stopping the run and if Houstons knee is healthy enough for him to be a factor.

Yeah, and it's only gotten worse in the years since. I mean, I like to push my limits, but most these jokers are on a whole other level. And the Chiefs seem to be providing them even more opportunity with the ever increasing gate opening times. Not sure what it will take for them to be a little more cautious and realize giving the drunkies 9hrs of Arrowhead drinking might be too much. A drunk has been beaten to death in the parking lot, and HEY next year let's open the gates earlier...

I have to disagree. While the Chiefs run defense has been porous, they haven't lost games because of that deficiency.

They lost to Tampa and Tennessee because Reid got "cute" in the Red Zone and Peters was unavailable to cover Mike Evans.

The Raiders running game was supposed to be a tough match up and it wasn't.

I just don't buy it, man. I'll have to see it to believe it. Plus, you're leaving out how explosive the Chiefs offense has been recently. Let New England have long, clock draining drives, the watch the Chiefs respond in less than 2 minutes.

This! I'm excited but not "really excited" as I remember the sinking feeling I had at the No-Punt" playoff game... I'd like a much different experience this time but nothing surprises me much anymore when playoff time comes...

Those of us old timers know about playoff misery all too well though this year feels different to me (at least I hope so):

Chiefs Playoff Record Summary

All-Time Playoffs: 25 Games, 9-16
Wild Card Round: 10 Games, 3-7
Divisional Round: 9 Games, 2-7
Conference Championship: 3 Games, 2-1
Super Bowl: 2 Games, 1-1
Championship (pre-1966): 1 Games, 1-0

I'm excited as hell, but as a lifelong Chiefs fan, I also am nervous as hell. My biggest fear it that we suffer another demoralizing loss on national tv.

Fact is most teams don't have the patience required to allow their running game to win for them. Pittsburgh and/or NE would be wise to challenge the Chiefs in this manner considering the loss of DJ and the depleted D-line.

I agree with your point about the Chiefs ability to respond offensively: if needed, I think it could become quick-strike, and the two-minute/hurry-up has been far superior this season compared to last. I remember Childress and Nagy alluding to this fact in training camp in how they wanted to make the red zone offense and the hurry up or two minute situations more efficient.

The Chiefs playing with the lead is favorable, but they have also demonstrated they can play with composure coming from behind which was not the case last season.

Bell and Blount will be big problems

Steelers are a problem because they have a good running game and a good deep passing game. We usually have to commit to defending one or the other.

Patriots are actually a better matchup for us imo but they still have a power runner in blount and that speed dink/dunk crap. Edelmen face raped Sutton last time and Blount should truck our soft ass MLBs.

Who's committed to running it on them? The only teams that have really stayed with it were the Titans.

The Chiefs don't wanna get in a shootout with brady, but they're gonna have to come out aggressive and try and get a lead. If they get behind, I'd guess the hood will just be content to hand it off until the chiefs stop it.

The best thing the chiefs have done stopping those teams who've run it on them in the red zone, to FG's or turning them over. 9 of the chiefs turnovers forced have come in the redzone.

I don't see the pats making those mistakes, so they need to play better between the 20s.

I just don't see them as "indestructible" as other view them, especially without Gronk.

They beat Pittsburgh, who was without Rothisberger, Miami twice and the Broncos. That's it. The only 4 teams with a winning record. I just don't think they've been challenged week in and week out.

They were beaten, at home, by the Seahawks, who run the same defense and probably isn't as good this year as the Chiefs defense has been.
