Chiefs trying to trade Justin Houston
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Chiefs talking to teams about trading OLB Justin Houston.
We doubt they're successful. Houston turned 30 last month and carries an exorbitant $21.1 million cap hit. If the Chiefs don't find a trade partner, they're fully expected to release Houston, especially with Dee Ford likely coming back on either a big-money deal or the franchise tag. Houston's play has slipped in recent years, but he can be an effective sub-package rusher off the edge https://www.rotoworld.com/football/n...as-city-chiefs https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/n...carr-and-more/ https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2019/...justin-houston |

This might sound dumb but I'd try to add two years to his contract if he'd take a pay cut .I think we'll miss his production if he's gone. Get him down to 10 mil a year. If he wants to play in the SB he'll stay.

That's not dumb - would be easily justified if they won it all during that time.

Why is it wrong?
Think about it. The debate about whether to just release Houston outright is certainly legitimate. So of course we'd take a trade for a player we will likely just cut outright (now that Ford franchise looks imminent). The cap hits are basically the same for release or trade right? You think other teams don't know we'd take a trade for Houston. What's the point of putting the word out if not to send a message to the player? (also complicated that Berry and Houston are super tight and therefore somewhat intertwined) Same could go for basically coming out and saying they're going to tag Ford before they did it - when often they keep those things close to the vest. Make it obvious to Houston that we can't keep him and Berry at those rates, and tag Ford. There's nothing left. Give him time to start thinking about it at least and hope he restructures. Because even as a brokedick, he's still a high end edge Defender and landing one for a Day 3 pick at a market appropriate deal (since they aren't on the hook for the sb) with no downside of caphit of it doesn't work out and he's cut is totally worth a Day 3 pick. Kicking the can down the road, stupidly, is why Houston has a charge of nearly 22m for 2019 and isn't feasible for the Chiefs.
The Chiefs didn't formally announce anything. |

I tend to believe most leaks are intentional. Or at least when a team is shopping a player but they don't want it to get out, they do a better job of keeping it under wraps. Look at how well the Chiefs kept their interest in trading up for Mahomes under wraps. And also this news came out on the same day as the Berry surgery announcement. |

No one did **** all against NE - because apparently Belichick knows how to align his OL into some kind of invisible force field. And of course if you do touch Brady it's an instant penalty.
Luckily Spags is one of the only coaches that has been able to penetrate it at times. |

Andy said yesterday on the Sirius interview that we lost that game by 4 inches because Dee Ford.
And what really ticks me off is that" one play" completely changed the narrative from Tom brady being washed up throwing 3 ints to how awesome the Patriots are winning their 6th SB. I hope Dee ford is taking it HARD knowing he blew our whole ****ing season! |

Fans only care about they’re team winning. They aren’t interested in the salary discussions between millionaires and billionaires. Nobody cares how much they get paid on a personal level. But in a league with a fixed cap, the cheaper the better, because that provides more $$ to spend on other players. Fans aren’t upset at players making money. Fans just want players to be affordable so we can build the best roster at a price that fits under the cap so we can win Superbowls |
