Sutton has at least proven he is capable with more defensive talent. Berry getting hurt was a monumental kick to the groin. So if he gets rehired, ehh, I can live with it. The guy who needs to go is Andy Reid Jr., defensive line coach. Every single member of our defensive line has regressed. We got rid of Poe because Chris Jones was supposed to be dominant. He's just a guy now, practically expendable. Logan is the largest soft ass I've ever seen. It'll never happen but Daddy Reid needs to send his son to the unemployment line.

How ****ing useless is a defensive coordinator who has to have top end talent to run sufficiently?

This. The defense was tops back then IN SPITE of him. You can't play nickel or dime and defend the run without ELITE talent to make up for gaping scheme vulnerability. His unwillingness to adjust accordingly caught up to him.

Up 18 points and the Titans just run the ball out of base personnel every time and not once did his defense force a punt in the entire second half. We've seen his "bend-don't-break" strategy to its absolute limit this year and it resulted in a bottom 5 defense that's 31st at stopping anyone on 3rd down. Inexcusable.

Doesn't matter if the offense is top 5 in the league when all you need to do is run the ball and win the time of possession to beat Sutton's defense.

The longer this mother****er stays on payroll, the more likely he’s staying.

At this point it looks like Andy might keep Sutton.

And to make it worse, how many failed 3rd down conversions in the first half were a result of terrible TN execution rather than good defense? The D was an absolute embarrassment, as it has been in every Reid-Era playoff game other than the Houston game.

Exactly.

In the 2nd half the Titans used the same strategy the Steelers use to beat us. They punch our defense in the mouth with smash mouth football. We have no answer for that it seems. D is too soft.

Sutton's bend but don't break defense sucks on third downs and at stopping the run which allows for long time consuming drives. It is so frustrating to watch. If Sutton does come back he needs to make serious changes to the scheme and we need to get more talent. Despite how much money we put into the defense there are so many weaknesses it's pathetic. Zombo starting is a joke the guy is a backup.

Also, J Houstons contract is ridiculous. J Houston to me is one of the those players who got paid and then stopped trying as hard. I can't think of any other reason for the huge drop in his production. What a ****ing waste of money his contract is. Tamba Hali eluded to this in his twitter rant. Seems like he knew what he was talking about after all.

Alex smith doesn't...but a real QB would take the team down the field at least once in the second half of a playoff game and not make excuses about D. A couple of 1st downs and one successful drive for points wins that game , even with the way the defense played. Period. Thats why smith is gone.

Ok, here's the deal. Bob Sutton is a fine defensive coach, BUT it is time for a DC change in KC. Sutton's scheme(s) are tired, and OC's have figured out how to attack said schemes. Simply put, despite Sutton's capabilities, it's time for a change.

Is Reid at that stage yet where he promotes his offensive line coach to DC like he did in Philly that one year?

I mean, at least Andy Heck wouldn't be coaching the OL anymore...

Also, if Sutton is gone, I think we all know that Reid is just going to promote Gary Gibbs.

Andy seriously considered him for DC when he first took the job.

That would be extremely underwhelming.
