I'm kind of there. Saw Sevendust in concert when they first came on the scene and was hooked. Old Limp Bizkit is good but the longer they went on...the worse their shit got. I did like Korn and Linkin Park though.

Is Mudvayne considered nu-metal? I liked their stuff but it was mostly their older stuff.

I thought nu-metal was suppose to be a fusion of rap and rock. I dont think Mudvayne would fall into that category.

Nonpoint is a band I thought should have been bigger than they ended up.

Mudvayne definetly gets placed into that NuMetal scene. They're considered one of the more successful NuMetal bands. Google "Top NuMetal bands" and you won't find a list that doesn't include Mudvayne.

The one band i see frequently referenced as NuMetal that imo doesn't belong there would be System of a Down.

That's not NuMetal. They just happened to find success in the era of NuMetal.

Yeah Limp Bizkit gets classified as Nu-Metal. But i like to think of Nu-Metal as more of the Static-X, Mudvayne, Mushroom Head, Dope etc type of bands.

I don’t know which era would be purer, but metal changed quite a bit after the late 80’s/early 90’s after grunge became so popular. It seemed like those two genres ended up coming together and forming bands like Limp Bizkit, Rage Against the Machine, etc.

In the 80’s it felt like it was basically all the glam bands vs Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, etc.

They’re definitely not new. I don’t think they’ve released anything in 20 years.

But that album they released recently was hot garbage imo.
