The 4-3 Under and Current Personnel

Here are some thoughts about transitioning to 4-3. I like the player comparisons. Let these guys play in a scheme and position where they can succeed. My only question... can KPass adjust and find a role.

The 4-3 discussion deserves it's own thread. #megathreadssuck

You don't put Dee Ford at DE. He's too small. You keep him at WLB and put Tanoh in at DE. I think the starting lineup going into training camp would be:

SDE - Allen Bailey/Breeland Speaks
SDT - Derrick Nnadi/Xavier Williams
WDT - Chris Jones/Justin Hamilton
WDE - Tanoh Kpassagnon
SLB - Justin Houston/Frank Zombo
MLB - (Sigh.) Anthony Hitchens/Reggie Ragland/Ben Niemann
WLB - Dee Ford/Dorian O'Daniel

I think the personnel are a good fit for a 4-3.

The moment Buttons packed up his office and Ford no longer has coverage responsibilities. It's has to be proven out. That's one of the reasons you tag him.

I have been thinking that for a while now. The last couple of years we have drafted tweeners that did not fit in a 3-4. They are much more likely to fit in a 4-3 alignment so I think this change may have been the plan for a while now.

No.

In no way should we pay a one trick pony, who has an injury history, that much money.

We can't put out worst coverage LB at WLB.

DE or GTFO

Yea Ford is not a WLB in this defense.

He’s a WDE or you let him walk/trade. I have a feeling they aren’t willing to let him go because of how close we are to a SB though.

A 3-4 is a more flexible defense to run and harder to defend against. I hope the Chiefs don't decide to switch to a 4-3 but like everyone except a few guys running the show it's not up to me. On top of that we're pretty set at nose tackle.

Restructure Houston.
Tag and trade Ford.
Sign Trey Flowers.

Speaks - Nnadi - Jones - Flowers

Houston - Hitchens - DOD

Whether we stayed in a 3-4 or switched to a 4-3.....we'd still need CBs and safeties.

I think you need to do a little more research on the 4-3 Under, and on our DC. There’s a reason our OLB’s played DE in College, same reason Hali played DE until we switched to 3-4. They are DE’s in the 4-3. Spag used smaller DL in NY, Ford is playing DE. Since it’s the Under, Houston will play the Sam and basically do what he’s been doing.

The thing is, you can clear up so much money by letting Houston and berry go and not tagging ford

The berry thing probably can’t happen but the other two maybe

And then your pass rush is depleted. You really think we get better on D without both of those guys?

I don’t see any way they let both go when we’re this close.
