Ballbuster Video: 1 store left

Blockbuster down to 1: Bend, OR. Down from 4,500 at its peak. Milennials will never know of this horrid place - a more wretched hive of scum and villainy you'll never see.

Anyone here sad to see their demise? Anyone remember "late fees" returning The Untouchables?

I saw that this was happening. I spent a lot of money in my local blockbuster a couple of decades ago. The place didn't seem so bad to me.

I've never really done the movie rental thing at any volume. Don't know why. I don't have netflix or anything even today.

I guess the Russell Crowe underwear from Gladiator couldn’t save the Alaska blockbusters.

Count me in as someone who loved blockbuster. But I grew up in a smaller town. I loved running into people I knew, judging them on their movie choices, and the thrill of not always getting the movie you wanted. Movies and books have become more convenient but I get kind of bummed that so many social experiences are being stripped away from us. Same reason I was sad to see toys r us go away.

I always liked Blockbuster because you could go there and rent a Super Nintendo.

I used to do this almost every summer with my cousin when we would visit the States.

We never got to play video games in Scotland so Blockbuster was like this magical oasis where I could cheaply and easily acquire video games to play for a joyous, if short time.

Everytime my cousins or friends would come over I'd beg my dad to take us to Blockbuster to rent some games. Probably supported their whole store the number times we rented James Bond games.

They never rented porn or NC17 movies.

In fact, they had so much pull at one time, a few NC17 flicks would come out with ‘The Blockbuster cut’ so they would rent it in their stores.

That's incredible.

Also the millennials time frame is actually quite big so I am technically one myself. I certainly remember Blockbuster. There was almost something magical about going and finding the video or game you knew for sure would not be there. Plucking that tab off the velcro was a magical moment.
