A Smithville man who was found in someone else’s Jeep and then died in a struggle outside Arrowhead Stadium Sunday had gone to the game in a similar vehicle that was parked nearby, police said Tuesday.

The Jeep also showed no signs of a break-in, leading police to believe it may have been left unlocked when Kyle Van Winkle, 30, climbed in and sat down.

Police released the additional details Tuesday as they continued to investigate what led to the death of Van Winkle, who had attended the Chiefs game against the Denver Broncos with relatives.

Detectives planned to interview relatives Tuesday to determine when they last saw him inside the stadium.

Police were called to Lot A of the Truman Sports Complex about 5:20 p.m. Sunday on a disturbance. Witnesses told police the Jeep owner had returned to his vehicle with his son, who is about 10 years old, when they realized a stranger was inside. The boy summoned help from several tail-gaters and they engaged in a struggle with Van Winkle, who had been sitting in the Jeep. Van Winkle collapsed and later died at a hospital.

Police did not say how Van Winkle died, but they said his body bore no signs of obvious injury.

Officers arrested three men shortly after the death, but they had to track down the fourth man who was arrested. Police searched one man’s home in Independence on Monday.

Detectives released three of the men Monday night and the fourth man Tuesday morning, pending further investigation.

No, it was more of a whole area, but the jeep was parked close to the red truck, it was on the other side, just a little off.

Here's the best photo I can get from watching the video. It's not the best angles (Camera men, they can't do it right these days....)

The middle fat arrow is pointing the green jeep, and you could barely, albeit, poor lighting, make out something red behind the jeep by the 2nd thin red arrow.

So it looks like to me, between those two arrows is where the fight occurred in that area.

They must have had a pretty big area cordoned off, makes me wonder if the guy was trying to get away and they followed him and continued beating him.

Remember when Hart died at the wrestling show in KC. Everyone knew he had died in front of them. When they announced the cancellation people booed and some caused scenes with police. A man died, are you not entertained!

In mid October I left a Five Guys with my mom and hopped into the wrong car. It was a black CRV, exactly like hers. I tried starting the car multiple times, wondering why the ****ing key wouldn't turn until I looked over and saw an odd car charger on the dash.

I yelled out "Holy ****," and we jetted out of the car and into hers, which was parked one spot over.

Fortunately I didn't do this at a CP Bash or one of the resident badasses would have beat my ass to death, invented a time machine out of a BBQ smoker, tinfoil, jacks, and boat rigging, and then Skynetted my grandparents.

I don't think anybody should have beat you to death but they should have definitely scooped up about 10 lbs of dog crap and left it on your door.

What was canceled? I was at that PPV and the show went on after his fall.

I have not read previous posts on here but I know the victim's wife. I met her husband once and he seemed very nice. I was told this happened at halftime and he was very intoxicated which was the reason he was in the guy's car. She just had a baby too and is on maternity leave at her school.

Just very sad.
