Last night’s start from Lynch is the type of “bad” start you hope your younger SP have. Yeah, the box score is not what you need. But he did a lot of good things, including getting swings-and-misses on his breaking ball.
If he executes the slider that Knizer hit out and gets a K there instead, it’s a start we are pretty happy about. Much different than the outings from Kowar and Singer had the other day. Bubic’s is a little different. Only made it through 2/3 of an inning because of pitch count on his first start. And honestly, I thought he was getting squeezed in that start (missing location but still hitting the zone and not getting the calls). And honestly, if Lynch hits, Bubic is a solid back-end guy, Kowar busts, and Singer ends up in the pen to varying levels of importance, that’s actually a pretty good return from 4 pitching prospects.

We are at the point we are praising a 5IP 9hit 6er (3-jack) outing.

Praising? Who praised it? Saying “if you’re going to have a bad start, have THAT bad start” isn’t praising it. It’s pointing out that at least this one had some bright spots. No bright spots to share regarding Kowar and Singer and their first appearances. Or Bubic.
