Seahawks WR Jermaine Kearse will hit the market.
I always liked this guy as a #2 WR.

The FA WR market is pretty terrible this year. Guys like Kearse, Sanu, and Marvin Jones are going to get overpaid. Bubba Caldwell and Jordan Norwood could be some lower tier, cheaper options if the Chiefs decide to go that route.

I think Conelly is getting under valued on here. That kid has the makings to be a great two and the talent to be a real bad ass. He is better than Wilson for sure who is just another slow midget as far as I'm concerned. Connelly should take his spot next season as he will know the offense Better. We are not signing another WR this season. Draft one maybe.

Kearse would make a legit, decent #3 WR on most NFL teams, which means on the Chiefs he'd be light years ahead of anyone but Maclin. The jury is still out on Conley, he's got the measurables, but he couldn't beat out Albert Wilson, which says a lot, and he dropped a lot of passes early. Wilson is a #4 WR/ST, masquerading as a #2. #2 WR is the Chiefs' biggest single offseason need, in my opinion, because Albert Wilson as a #2 WR is an embarrassment.

At minimum, Conley and Wilson need to switch roles. Ideally we would add another WR in the draft and then let Wilson fill the DAT role. Actually with west and ware proving to be good, I wonder if we should use Jamaal as a Receiver some with west or ware in the backfield. Having Maclin, Charles, and Kelce along with Conley as receiving options would be a headache for defenses

I still worry he's not the right kind of #2 for this offense.
He could be a dynamite #2 in Pittsburgh but he's just not precise enough or quick enough with his feet to be a true #2 here. Additionally, we want our #2 to be able to step in as a #1 and I don't think his game is rounded enough for that. Sadly, Emmanuel Sanders would've been perfect for that job. Of the likely FAs, Travis Benjamin is the guy I see that would be best suited for the job. He's not that big WR that teams are likely to pay as a #1 so he may be a little more affordable. He's quick enough and a solid route-runner with elite YAC skills so he should be great in the scheme. He proved this year that he can hold his own as a #1 if absolutely necessary (though it's not an ideal role for him). Benjamin is tops among my FA WR candidates by a fair margin. Unfortunately it appears that it's very likely he'll be staying in Cleveland. It's unfortunate as he really is an ideal option; almost Maclin-like in terms of how well he would fit given our needs. Marvin Jones is probably #2. I'd probably say Rishard Matthews is my #3 and then maybe Hankerson and Sanu. When that's the list, you're probably well served to look to the draft and hope that the guys you already have take a step forward.

The amount of wasted movement in his routes is very alarming. And it's not mental; it's a physical thing. His feet just don't fire that fast. That's a massive knock in this offense. I still like Conley a lot, but I think he's better suited as a #3 in this offense with a role more like Martavius Bryant; a big hitter who can take the top off an offense and who can really explode in the right matchup.

What is it you guys actually see in Kearse? He's not a big bodied guy and he damn sure isn't a quick-twitch receiver either. He has above average hands and that's it. What do you think he actually does better than Wilson? He isn't faster, isn't quicker and doesn't have appreciably better hands. Is it really because Wilson doesn't like to dive? Additionally, Kearse will take at least half the season to get up to speed on the offense whereas Wilson already knows it extremely well (the TD he scored on the inside slant was a perfect example). Kearse would be hated by week 5 here and probably get cut in the offseason. He's not right for this offense at all, IMO.

CP has a weird fascination with average players on other teams. It's like they hear a name starting on a good team and assume he's awesome.

I'm open to a discussion; perhaps they can tell me what they see in the guy. I just know that I've watched plenty of Seahawks football due to them often being the late games and their playoff runs and I've never seen anything from Kearse that tells me he's anything other than a JAG. Honestly, he's a rich man's Jason Avant.
