Considering only a few people know the whole story regarding his first of three permabans, the results aren't surprising. Out of those 57 votes, I wonder how many know the whole story and didn't vote based on false information like "Hootie was banned because he spoke out against the DoTY contest" or by simply looking at some of his posts and not knowing why he was on a short leash, etc.

He was permabanned, he knows it was a bannable offense, and obviously shouldn't have been invited back once, much less twice. He couldn't go a month without calling people out, carrying arguments from thread to thread, and attacking people, after already being permabanned twice & specifically being told to let things go. Phobia explains it here, too. How many of the 57 posts considered all of that? Since most of it is buried in a 1200 post thread, I'm guessing not many.

Most all of us know his history. We may not know all the details or whatever, but anyone can feel to share them. I would say he shouldn't have been banned int he first place, and he has always gotten under certain mod's skin where other people get into the same kinds of personal attacks and the like but never get banned.

Anyway, the bottom line is that he was let back and didn't do anything at all to get banned again.

Even Hootie knew the 1St ban was warranted. There's more there than meets the eye.

Well, the vote is now at 68-5. Maybe someone should share the real story behind this then, because right now it looks like a personal vendetta.

it's not warranted. It was incredibly personal and vile. Not everything on this site is public, and decisions are not always up for public debate. I understand the sentiment but if people here think they can do a better job they have 2 options. Apply for mod status, or start their own site.

I really mean no disrespect with that statement, it's just fact.

It was a BS ban no matter what Hootie said to get you guys to let him come back. If Crazy Coffee wanted his deep dark secrets kept secret, he shouldn't have been sharing them with the guy he was fighting with on the board. Wait a minute... is Crazy Coffee one of those guys you think needs to be protected from smart people?

You think the original permaban was because Hootie shared a secret of CC's?

It was because hootie threw salt in his wounds. It was pretty grotesque (CC filled me in on the details), but it wasn't perma-ban worthy by any stretch.

Sorry, then you got a watered down version of what happened from CC, or you're a really sick ****.

And on a side note, why the **** would CC confide in you?

That's not even true. He wasn't even banned for stepping over the line. Those posts got scrubbed IMMEDIATELY. I was on them just as fast as he posted them.

He got banned because I told him that it was inappropriate and that he was not to ever post about the stuff CC shared with him again or he would be permabanned. Then he went and did it anyway - with a clear understanding he would be permabanned. Yes, let's all shed some tears for Hootie. He never does anything wrong.

I don't think it's a secret since CC is the one who let the cat out of the bag, but yes.

He did, based on the short leash we gave him... we were mostly on the fence about letting him back to begin with, and it was a failed experiment. In hindsight, if you don't think someone can come back with the same set of rules as everyone else, they shouldn't be allowed back.... our bad.
