First Round Mock 2.0 (2/20/21)

1. JAX - QB Trevor Lawrence, Clemson
Jacksonville needs a QB and Lawrence is the top dog. Nuff said.
2. NYJ - QB Zach Wilson, BYU
Wilson's arm strength will likely be what puts him over Fields in this draft, something Darnold lacks for playing in NY weather.
3. MIA (f/HOU) - OT Penei Sewell, Oregon
If Miami is set on rolling with Tua, they'll need to protect him so they go get the best OT to come out in a long time.
4. ATL - DE Gregory Rousseau, Miami
Atlanta needs to fix their atrocious pass rush so they stand pat despite trade offers and take Rousseau.
5. CIN - TE Kyle Pitts, Florida
Brian Callahan loves running 12 personnel, so he's going to pound the table hard for Cincinnati to stand pat and take Pitts who may be the best offensive weapon in the draft.
6. PHI - LB Micah Parsons, Penn State
Philadelphia's linebacking corps is exhibit A on how to field a terrible defense. Parsons has Kuechly-like ability and should inject major talent into the defense.
7. DET - DE Kwity Paye, Michigan
Romeo Okwara and Everson Griffin are free agents so Detroit needs help getting to the QB outside of Trey Flowers who isn't even that great at it.
8. HOU (f/CAR) - QB Justin Fields, Ohio State
All signs indicate a deal is going down between Carolina and Houston for Watson, so I have Houston taking a new QB of the future.
CAR trades 2021 1-8, 2021 3rd, 2022 1st, 2023 1st, QB Teddy Bridgewater to HOU for QB DeShaun Watson
9. DEN - CB Caleb Farely, Virginia Tech
Denver needs more help in the secondary if they want to battle within the division.
10. MIA (f/DAL) - WR JaMaar Chase, LSU
The Dolphins have the chance to still get a playmaker for the outside by moving up from 18 and they get the top reciever in Chase.
MIA trades 2021 1-18, 2021 2-50 to DAL for 1-10
11. NYG - WR DeVonta Smith, Alabama
The Giants need a #1 option for Daniel Jones to throw to, on top of putting more protection around him. Smith is elite.
12. SF - QB Trey Lance, North Dakota State
San Francisco knows they need to move on from Jimmy G but I don't see them selling the farm to get a guy. Lance needs development, but he's the type of mobile QB that would fit Shanahan's offense.
13. LAC - OT Rashawn Slater, Northwestern
There's no doubt the Chargers need a left tackle, the only question is who. Slater is next best offensive lineman in the draft after Sewell.
14. JAX (f/MIN) OT Christian Darrisaw, Virginia Tech
The Jaguars have ammunition to make a move up from 25 and Minnesota is a prime target with no 2nd rounder. The Jags will need to protect Lawrence and Darrisaw is a stud LT prospect.
JAX trades 1-25, 2-45 to MIN for 1-14
15. NE - QB Mac Jones, Alabama
Belichek has proven he can do alot with a little at many positions but QB isn't one of them. The Pats need a QB and Jones fits their type.
16. ARZ - CB Patrick Surtain II, Alabama
The Cardinals are set to lose Patrick Peterson to free agency, so they'll need a new lockdown guy on the outside and Surtain has a case as the best CB in the draft.
17. LV - LB Jeremiah Owusu Koramoah, Notre Dame
The Raiders need to help their linebacking corps and Koramoah is an athletic specimen that could have the ability to match up with Travis Kelce.
18. DAL (f/MIA) - CB Jaycee Horn, South Carolina
Jerry Jones is never against trading down, which I have him doing here with their projected needs. He still gets a needed piece in the secondary with Horn.
19. WAS - WR Jaylen Waddle, Alabama
It will be interesting to see if Washington is happy with the development of Geron Christian and Saadiq Charles at LT, but I think there's hope there. I have them going for an explosive weapon on the outside in Jaylen Waddle.
20. CHI - WR Rashod Bateman, Minnesota
The Bears will likely lose Allen Robinson in FA and already have productive, smaller receivers in Mooney and Miller which makes Waddle or Toney less attractive. Bateman can win on the outside and in contested situations.
21. IND - OT Samuel Cosmi, Texas
The Colts lost Anthony Costanzo to retirement leaving LT as a must-fix after trading for oft-injured Carson Wentz. Cosmi is long and athletic, similar to Costanzo.
22. TEN - ER Ronnie Perkins, Oklahoma
The Titans have nobody that can get after the QB so edge will be important. Perkins creates more pressure than any player in this draft and brings an attitude with him.
23. NYJ (f/SEA) - RB Najee Harris, Alabama
Perine's 3.6 ypc and the complete failure of Frank Gore means the Jets need to get their rookie QB some help right now. Harris is a load of a feature back.
24. PIT - OT Jalen Mayfield, Michigan
Pittsburgh has holes up and down the o-line so they'll need to address it multiple times. A good start if finding the heir to either Villanueva or Feiler.
25. MIN (f/LAR via JAX) - DT Christian Barmore, Alabama
The Vikings need a disruptive interior defender next to Michael Pierce and will get just that with Barmore who put up 37 tackles, 9.5 for a loss and 8 sacks against SEC competition in 2020.
26. CLE - ER Jaelan Phillips, Miami
Phillips certainly comes with some red flags given the concussion history, but if he can avoid them he's one of the best in this draft and would give the Browns a top duo paired with Myles Garrett.
27. BAL - ER Azeez Ojulari, Georgia
The Ravens won't be able to bring back all 4 of their free agent pass rushers. Ojulari is not only BPA but fits a glaring need.
28. NO - WR Kadarius Toney, Florida
It won't be long before Emmanuel Sanders falls off a cliff so the Saints need to add talent opposite Michael Thomas that can threaten deep. Toney is a playmaker.
29. BUF - OG Alijah Vera-Tucker, USC
The Bills have RGs Feliciana and Winters as FAs along with Daryl Williams at RT. We know the priority re-signing will be Williams. Vera Tucker is a stud but likely needs to move inside in the NFL.
30. GB - LB Zaven Collins, Tulsa
Green Bay has struggled against the run so LB and DL are on the table here. Collins could be the next Clay Matthews for the Pack.
31. KC - ER Joe Tryon, Washington
The Chiefs need help at LT but may not reach at this point. Their other big need is more juice off the edge in 4-man fronts and Tryon can bring just that.
32. TB - DT Daviyon Nixon, Iowa
With the pending loss of Suh next to Vita Vea, the Bucs will need a disruptor on the interior to maintain their good pass rush. Nixon is a game wrecker.
