Chiefs Fans Still Unhappy With Postseason Results

This is gold. There's a fun surprise at the end, too.

I’ve started to notice a trend forming among Chief fans the last few days on Twitter. There is an increasing fear that the Chiefs might lose the upcoming AFC Championship against the Patriots, in part due to their history in the playoffs. The Chiefs won their last home playoff game January 12, 2019. For those at home counting, that marks seven whole days without a playoff victory, and its making some Chiefs fans nervous.

Here at Arrowhead Guys, our beat reporters interviewed some fans we found at the local Walmart preparing for the game as they stocked up on handles of Everclear, sleeping pills and industrial strength barf bags. When asked if perhaps their purchases were a bit of an over-reaction, Emmett Brown and B. Tannen said they were preparing for a repeat of the last six days; just another day without a playoff win. Brown continued, “Its just been so long since we’ve won a playoff game. Every day has been heartbreak. First it was Sunday, no win. Then Monday, another winless day. I just wish there was a way I could go back in time to re-live that feeling of witnessing a home playoff win one more time.”

Tannen added, “I’d rather be waxing my boss’s car than to have to live through one more day without a playoff win.”

And it’s not just locally, either. The doubt among fans is so strong, even the national media has taken notice of the almost unrivaled stretch of days the Chiefs have gone without winning a game.

Of course, whenever the national media get involved and decides to run a fake news story, even the most pessimistic of fans will jump to their team’s defense, as Chiefs fans on Twitter look to correct any misstep in the coverage of this unprecedented seven-day drought without a playoff win. Here we see a local fan essentially doing nothing more than arguing semantics. In a world where your team hasn’t won a playoff game at home in seven days, how significant is it really to quibble over just one day?

Other fans have even gone to extreme measures to get to the bottom of this seemingly week-long stretch of not winning a game. Two friends and lifelong Chiefs fans Anthony and Gary, who may or may not operate a Chiefs fan website together depending on which news outlet you follow, even enlisted the help of a paranormal investigator to see if there were supernatural forces at play. They theorized some unseen negative energy was preventing the Chiefs from winning a game at Arrowhead in each of the seven days since their last historic victory against the Colts, a game they barely won 31-13.

Another fan resorting to extreme measures is well known misanthrope and meme master Clay W. (name withheld), who has spent every day the Chiefs haven’t won a game creating internet content, such as this video warning the Patriots and aging Tom Brady about the levels of desperation the Chiefs might resort to having not won in the postseason over this seven day stretch. When asked why he was so concerned about the seven-day winless streak, he responded, “Mahomes hasn’t even thrown a touchdown in the playoffs. Ever. In fact, Matt Cassel and Alex Smith have won just as many playoff games since the Chiefs last did as Mahomes has.”

But regardless of what Chiefs fans and the media thinks, fans of opposing teams are on edge. Nobody wants to face a team as hungry as the Chiefs are for a victory, having gone longer than any other team in the playoffs without a win.

My expectations for Sunday’s AFC Championship? The east coast hipsters lose, and the Chiefs end the longest active streak of the teams remaining of not winning a playoff game at Arrowhead. But until then, we count the hours and seconds the Chiefs have gone without winning at Arrowhead in the postseason.
