Chiefs Salary Cap 2024 - Moves to be made
Clearly, MVS should and will be cut June 1st which frees up about $11M. There are ways to restructure Mahomes, Thuney and Kelce potentially. The question here is, can the Chiefs find enough room to sign Sneed, Jones, Tranquill and Gay and still sign a top tier WR? I believe the 24 cap is going to increase a well.
Cap gurus, what other move can be made here? https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/kansas-c...iefs/cap/2024/ Last edited by NIUhuskies; 01-11-2024 at 10:57 AM.. |

Thuney is getting up there in age. I don't think you can do much with that contract.

When MVS signed his deal, the chances of him not being here for the last year was slim to none. Jones is done unless he takes a team friendly deal to stay a Chief and that's not happening. I think we try to give sneed a deal, and if not we tag and trade him. I don't think we will push Thuney down the road any farther, we've already done that for next year. I think they try to keep Tranquill. I think Gay is gone. They probably try to sign Creed to a long term deal. It's gonna be interesting.

You’re going to have to choose between Tranquill and Gay. Jones is probably gone. Sneed depends on how much he wants.

Just go into the playoffs and have a light bulb come on. Show me you're learning. Because that dude has UNICORN physical tools. Guys that strong shouldn't be that fast. And he's agile to boot. Hell, watch the guy jump - it's DB stuff. I hate hate hate even the small possibility that he goes somewhere else and puts it all together because I'm not kidding when I say he has HoF physical traits. But I just don't know how much faith you can put in that happening at this point. But if I were Veach I don't think I'd be able to let him walk. The tools are just too loud and at the very worst the energy he brings is a real thing.

And I love Sneed but this secondary is very deep at the moment. Watson looks like he could be special in time and he'd be our no 2 anyway. McDuffie has HOF potential. I figured we'd tag and trade Jones but Sneed's performance has complicated things a bit. Good problem to have I suppose.

There were a couple times early in the game where Josh didn't have anything downfield and started leaving the pocket seeing open field but Willie came roaring through and Josh realize real quick that he wasn't gonna outrun or run through that freak of nature. And as much as I would like to keep Willie I think they're going to (gulp) save that money for Nick Bolton, for better or for worse. Someone is gonna overpay for Willie. We all know that's coming. He's young with a very high ceiling. That's why if he leaves I think we should immediately go after Isaiah Simmons who is very similar in size and athleticism and might come here bc he's from Olathe.

Tranq is another CP hype darling. There's simply no ****ing way you can watch both these players and come away thinking Tranq is the better signing assuming salaries are equal or close to.
