Great lyrics, but based on how they flow I was expecting something uptempo like Subterranean Homesick Blues, Maggie’s Farm etc
Afraid I can’t make it all the way through this 17 minute dirge |

Yeah I had a tough time getting through it. I did because of Dylan but Bob is seldom upbeat anymore.

I was 7 years old when JFK was killed in school. I will remember the look of horror on the teachers face when he told us we were suspending class for a while. My parents were in shock trying to explain to us all. We figured it out because it was on the news every channel. We were out of school till after the funeral our whole family sat glued to TV through whole procession.
Dad took us on vacation through Dallas a year later on our way to Galveston. We drove the procession past both depository and the grassy knoll. The window where the shot was supposedly fired had a red circle. The grassy knoll was just a median island with grass neatly trimmed don't know how anyone hid there. Dad called BS on that grassy knoll stuff.

Watching Qzwalt shot on live TV, you never forget that.
Karen walks into class holding a note she was in tears, we are all.....what??? She hands the note to Mr Wayman, he stands there for a few seconds taking it in then he turns and walks over to a window as Karen tries to hide the tear flow. After a good 10 seconds he turns and....class I need your attention, Mr Kennedy has been shot in Dallas. As his bottom lip begins to quiver. Bob Dylan one of my fav people. Meh. Kind of a crappy song. He's just rambling on for 15+ minutes. I love a lot of Dylan's good stuff. It's pure poetry that happens to go well with music. This isn't Dylan's good stuff.
*Upon Edit: I though he was dead, so...yay, maybe he can make some other stuff that doesn't suck after this. |

It went about 3 verses too long. Verse 5 was just downright boring and stupid. Even Iron Butterfly eventually learned you can't go on and on.

Wish he had expressed his poetry in a differnt manner. His musicical expression of his words blow. Doesn't make me a dick so save it.

The longest night of my life was attending a Bob Dylan concert. It was hellish, and that was 30 years ago. He’s a brilliant song writer who shouldn’t be allowed within 100 yards of a hot mic.
The last thing I need right now is a new Bob Dylan song stuck in my head. |

Yeah, Bob Dylan stole this from Don McClean.
I liked it. I'm a huge Dylan fan and it's not everyday you hear him with a piano in the background like that. He's absolutely brilliant. That said, I last saw him in NY just after 9/11 and his voice was pretty brutal. It's amazing that he's still touring as much as he is nearly two decades later. Yeah, I'm not listening to that.
He toured in my town a couple of years ago and my Mom wanted me to go. I declined and then she told me after the show she didn't understand a word he sung and was very disappointed. |

Right. That's exactly what I meant. Obviously I was saying that one of the best lyricists of all time sat down and somehow stole this song from a dead guy. Congratulations on being so amazingly perceptive. |
