Throw out higher ranked players you don't want is about all I got.
I generally try to avoid "driving up" players I don't want for fear they'll get dumped on me (happened once last year and crippled my team) I like to throw out the top ranked kicker early....someone always bids over you for them and a kicker is a kicker they should cost $1...period |

If it's a keeper league (depending on the rules thereof) don't forget about guys like Nelson and Benjamin.
In ours, you can keep a guy for up to 3 years at a rate increase of 20% of his previous years auction rate. I got Nelson at the end of the auction for $8, so he can potentially be kept for $10 next year. |

Just thought of one more (really goes along with the first one, but whatever)
Throw out players from other owners favorite teams. They may just way overbid them. |

1) have players ranked in cost tiers (based on skill level/production)
2) Budget for each spot/tier 3) Don't be afraid to go a few dollars over budget for a player you want, especially early 4) Don't get caught empty at a position with only a few good options left (you will pay out the nose) 5) Don't be afraid to strike early, especially on young players. Often, the first rookie thrown out will be lower-cost than the other rookies at his spot 6) Keep a close eye on the higher-cost stars early. Especially in online auctions, they can often go for a price right around the system-generated cap for them (their ADC), but that can be a bargain later. Are you doing it online or live? Live makes a big difference, because people aren't as slaved to the draft site-generated dollar values for players.
